    Rode NT1A clip

Thanks for the kind words. I just find the 960 to be fatter, warmer, breathier. Here's a clip with the 960 and tenor. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=823181&content=songinfo&songID=6504210 Here's my soundclick page if you feel like rooting around. There's a variety of styles...

    Rode NT1A clip

I think so. P90s are very versatile and the Lollars have a lot of depth and complexity. Really made my Korean Casino come to life.

    Rode NT1A clip

They sound great for rock and blues too. Lollar will put their P90s in your metal Casino specific covers. I rolled back the tone and volume until I hit the sweet spot for a jazz tone. I have the guitar set up with heavy strings as basically as jazz box that won't feedback at the volume I play...

    Rode NT1A clip

Thanks! I like the mic but I like the MXL 960 I bought better. Unbelievable how good it sounds for the $$. I put a Mullard 12AT7 in it and it sounds really nice for sax.

    Rode NT1A clip

Here's a clip of me playing tenor sax recorded with an NT1A. I play sax and guitar on this track. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=823181&content=songinfo&songID=6455789 I have an MXL 960 that I like too. I can post a clip of that mic as well if any one is interested.

    Went to Guitar Center...

You'll have to forgive me but being a long time pro and old school guy Tele players use their volume controls for swells and tone controls for wah effects as naturally as breathing. The controls are within easy reach of the pinky and and can be manipulated while playing. Plus neither the tone...

Hey one advantage of a Tele is you sure don't need a volume PEDAL!! :p

All that matters is how it sounds to you. Did you try all the Epi Les Pauls in the store? Some play and sound better than others. All of them can be improved with an eventual pickup and electronics upgrade.

Those Lee Jackson designed Ampeg VL1002 amps are cheap...$500 on ebay. Just saying.;) There is no speaker made that sounds like the Pre Rola Celestion Greenbacks. I just bought two on eBay for $330, which is a good price considering new Scumbacks or Heritages are as much but can't touch the...

The amps are great....I don't know if V30s are the right speakers for the amp. I prefer some type of Greenback. YMMV

    Mods for MXL 960

Thanks!! I don't know if I like the mic any better than my Rode NT1A, which folks seem to dog. I still have to try a NOS 12AY7. Even with the Mullard 4024 it's pretty hot. This clip is the Rode. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=823181&content=songinfo&songID=6455789

    Check out these guitar tones!

Thanks man!! The key for my tone is a Lee Jackson designed amp and Celestion Pre Rola speakers. No pick and Lollar Strat Special pups. The whole signal chain is described upthread. The pups have a silky shimmer and thicker sound than stock Strat pups. The amp has tons of smooth saturation and...

Thanks for the kind words! Modes, scales, chromatic passing tones, chord shapes, all fair game. But I'm really trying to play melodic lines that evolve in my head as I play...one idea generating the next. That's the goal anyway! Check out my music...
