Hey everyone, I've recently purchased a 49 key midi controller. I'm into composing my own stuff but ableton live lite 5 is very limited in the sample department..I have currently been looking at these two products. For those that have expierience, which should I select? Are the samples in sample...

    Phantom Power..

Thanks for your reply...really appreciated...I've also done a search and found threads regarding this (should have searched before posting, sorry about that). I have two large diaphram condensors and they require phantom power, I am going to be purchasing an SM57 soon, and that does not require...

    Phantom Power..

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anything will happen to my mic's or mixer if some of the mics need the phantom power on and some of them don't need phantom power.. Will this ruin the mics that don't need it? What initially will happen or not? (Speaking ofcourse if they are all connected to the...

    Some sort of recording device.

Hey guys, I'm new to recording. I would like to know if there is something that can be attached to a mixer that I could record a song straight to. I'm not sure of whats out there...and i'm thinking it sounds like a job for a multitrack recorder? I'm not sure, i was hoping someone could help me out.

Gretsch 8-ply Birch, now I need cymbals

have you thought of lookign into used? Cymbals mellow over time...if you purchase used, its likely they are already mellowed and so you wont have to guess how they will sound later on. Plkus, used can also be cheaper.

    Critique Please

I'd say it sounds pretty good. A bit more meat on the bass drum, and some drumhead tuning issues...other than that, i think it sound really good. Very good as a matter of fact. Those toms came out really clear on the recording, and you werent micing them separately, only using overheads, sounds...

    Carbosticks!!

Hell, I invite you to take a copper bar and start smacking your cymbals "with good technique" without breaking them... You said "any type of stick" right? Well, go for it man, be my guest. you gotta be kidding me dude... Can we agree that Dave Weckl has good technique? Maybe...

    Carbosticks!!

You must really hate Ahead sticks etc...And you don't realy know much about them, or technique for that matter which if you have the riight stuff, you won't break cymbals or drums using any type of stick...or even the stick for that matter. If you pay attention to how you play, you should do...

    kick drum problem

I know that rubber ball sound you are talking about. I got it when i tuned too high, without muffling of anykind. Just tune alot lowerand try some muffling techniques such as taping a twoel to the batter from the inside.

How do you dampen your kick drum?

I have a small pillow in it that barely touches both head. Its a really flat pillow also, but mostly, its all about tuning. Remember, the bass drum is a DRUM as well. You have to learn to tune it properly so you can get a killer sound out of it without muffling the hell out of it.

    Carbosticks!!

Alright, well for me, nothing will beat hickory or maple. But I do have a pair of Aheads 5A's, 3 years now, I only had to change the sleeves. I only use them when I run out of wood sticks or whenever I feel like it. Which isn't too often. I used to use them alot when I first got them. As for...

i need a new beater and kick drum heads....

what i've heard, to acheive a clicky type sound is to put a $0.25 between the falam patch and the head, or i think just taping it onto the falam patch. Experiment. And before you get all rawled up in recording and stuff, i suggest you research more into drums, drum characteristics etc. You...
