i have a chance to get one of these cheap. the only vocal mic i have at the moment is a crappy pg-48.what i want to know is are the 55-sh's any good? i want an "old" sound to my recordings which is why i thought this mic might be good.

my 388 has finally died. a friend has offered me a fostex m-80 8-track (for just £30!!). i just wanted to know if i could use the dead 388 as a mixer for the fostex. how would i do this? i don't have a manual for the 388 so don't really know how to fully use it.

hey, i own a 388 and i'm looking to do a split cd with my friend. i normally use 457 tape but theres seem to be a lack of it at the moment (i live in the uk). i know yr meant ot use 1mil tape on the 388 but i want this recording to have good sound. would it be best to use 407 or GP9 tape? thanx
