HELP! What tool do you use to change these switches? I find myself trying for ten minutes to change the switch on my KSM141 with a little screwdriver, only to realize that all I succeeded in doing was scratching the plastic. Any suggestions?
So, bought an Mbox 2, got stoked on it, plugged it in to the computer's dedicated USB, and no USB light came on. Looked in the manual, tried every combination of plugging in, etc. no luck. Plugged the Mbox 2 into my grandpa's PC instead of my MacBook, XP recognized it (surprise) but still no USB...
Medical bills are currently preventing me from buying a VST host, so I need one that is freeware or shareware. I don't want to download one illegally. I do want one that will work on my MacBook.
Also, if I wanted to patch a guitar or vox through my computer and use software effects, a VST host...
Are pots difficult to install? I just bought a 50's Kingston Swinga and the pots are all crackley. I know it's possible to clean them, but I'd rather buy new ones, install them, and have new knobbies for them and everything, as opposed to twisting the a couple million times. Do I need to worry...
Hi guys.
Do the Mackie Onyx mixers have automated faders? Just curious, if I get one, if I'll have to get a control surface too in order to do MIDI stuff.
Pirating is too time consuming (not to mention rather unethical). Anyone know of any decent software for notation? I have a MacBook, so finding stuff is a bit difficult right now, but I thought I'd ask just in case someone knows of software that works on the Intel processors.
What are some of the methods you guys use to keep your cables organized? I'm looking to have a mobile rig, and I know cables are a pain in the tookus if they're not constantly kept in check.
Also, I'm just interested to hear how people keep their cables organized in their studios as well.
I just read reviews in TapeOp #54 (awesome mag, btw) for what seem to be some pretty amazing preamp DIY kits from Seventh Circle Audio (seventhcircleaudio.com), but the review said the kits aren't for beginners. Anyone know of a place on the net to find good, simple yet educational kits? I would...
I'm torn between buying a laptop + interface or an all-in-one DAW ( http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/D3200/ , for instance). Are there any advantages (other than editing) for getting a computer, as opposed to an all-in-one? Is the portability actually increased, or am I better off getting...
I posted this in Studio Building because there's no DIY thread (YET) but I figured I might as well post it here, too.
So, I bought a $10 mic from eBay. It's an EV Slimair 636. I haven't heard anything about it, but seeing as it was $10 I'm not expecting much. However, I can't use it yet because...
So, I bought a $10 mic from eBay. It's an EV Slimair 636. I haven't heard anything about it, but seeing as it was $10 I'm not expecting much. However, I can't use it yet because the connector is a 4-pin. Now I think I read somewhere on the web that the 4 pin connector is actually two different...
No DIY thread, so I figured this would be a good place to ask this.
So, my band currently wants me to upgrade from my 100W 15 in. combo bass amp, and I know 100 watts isn't a lot, but I want to try and build a cabinet to go under it; even a dual 10" quarter stack would be fine. I'm just curious...
Okay, so I've been looking at a number of AD/DA converters, and each one I find has a different way of connecting to a computer. This is incredibly confusing to me. Some are incredibly simple and use USB/Firewire, and some, such as the Lynx Aurora 16, use 25-pin d-sub connectors (or something...
Okay, so to pre-empt this, I'm not a n00b to digital recording; just to the forums. I've had experience with studio recording a little bit, but most of my experience is in mixing and engineering, creating digital audio test CDs with pink noise and test tones, speaker frequency response analysis...
