Bass up, vocals down. I'll give it a crack :D

First project - and and all comments much appreciated

Thanks a bunch for your comments dude! I did EQ out much everything under about 200 out of the vocals 2nd guitar and pretty much everything under 100 from everything other than the kick and bass. Before it just sounded too cloudy down there. I might give a little more low end to the guitars and...

First project - and and all comments much appreciated

Hey guys, Been a long while since I've been around these parts. I've was asked my some friends of mine to record an EP for them and I've been super busy so the mixing is really starting to stretch out (we started in late 2010) & I really want to get it done. Here's one of the tracks I've...

    Rough mix, where to now?

Thanks for the thoughts bud. I did cut some 400 with a wide Q from the vocals. Maybe I went too far. What worries me is that the guitar in the intro sounds like an acoustic. That's a Mexican Fender Strat played into a Marshall half stack.

    Rough mix, where to now?

Hey guys, I'm working on my first project in my studio. I've done a rough mix of most of the tracks and they all sound pretty much the same (mix wise). If this was your rough mix, where would you go from here? Free Indeed by Fat Wombat on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for...

    My studio project thread

Still waiting for my desk to be built. In the meantime, I've got some new monitors. By that, I mean a new computer monitor which I've mounted on adjustable stands and a new pair of Behringer Truth B2031A monitors I picked up $260 seeing as my nEar05 monitors packed it in. Truth be told, for me...

    Tascam LA3500 balancing kit for M3500 & M3700.

Hi there, I wasn't looking to trade/sell them as a bulk lot, just letting people know what I have. To part with the output PCBs alone wouldn't require as substantial a trade as the the complete kit would. I would like to original kit in its original condition though so that means I would have...

    Tascam LA3500 balancing kit for M3500 & M3700.

Given the rarity of these I think they're worth a fair amount. I was recently offered a reel-to-reel tape machine as a trade on this forum although the guy who made the offer had an accident and his studio is on standby until future notice. For the complete kit with the original manual I would...

    Tascam LA3500 balancing kit for M3500 & M3700.

Hey guys, I have in my possession a Tascam LA-3500 balancing kit. These are highly sought after and anyone who has a Tascam M-3500 or an M-3700 console likely know what these are and how hard they are to find. I have: One full kit which includes 2 x bal in PCBs and 2 x bal out PCBs in the...

What your pride and joy piece of equipment??

My pride and joy is my Tascam M-3700 console. I know it's not the best console ever made, but after all of the man hours spent re-chipping it and replacing capacitors I've become particularly attached to it. I love that I can use it as a massive midi controller when mixing in the box or add some...

Best tube type for ART Pro MPA II preamp?

5751 - I've not tried one in an ART preamp although I've preferred them in other 12AX7 preamps I've used.

    My studio project thread

It's been a while since I've posted here. I've been flat out building microphones so I haven't done a whole lot. I've built a pair of Gyraf G7s with RK47 capsules, a pair of C12 clones with CK12 capsules and a C12 clone with one of Tim Campbell's CT12 capsules which is a truly outstanding mic...

Gyraf G7, does it sound good?

Could be, I haven't really mixed the song yet. All I've done so far aside from some basic panning is compress some the drums/vocals and EQ the vocals a little. Guitars and bass are still raw tracks. Sounds like I'll have to get my plate reverb back in business.

Gyraf G7, does it sound good?

I'm after any opinions I can get, thanks for taking the time to have a listen and for your feedback. I went all out with my G7 build and used one of Tim Campbell's CT12 capsule. Maybe my ears are too used to cheap Chinese condensers with scooped mids to fully appreciate it.

Gyraf G7, does it sound good?

You're right, the vocal has zero reverb on it. I have a recording of the same guy singing through a different mic although I was mainly testing my plate reverb in this recording Sheldon - Wash Away by Kris O'Sullivan on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
