Importing songs from PC to MR-8-possible?

Does the wav file need to be mono first? There are plenty of free-ware music converters that will do that for you...

    Electronic drums

Thats funny, same thing here! ;) Until I can afford building a sound-proofed practice room in the basement, I think roland v-drums are my best bet.

find another instructor or go without?

Monster; most teachers worth their salt will give you one lesson free, or a mini-lesson free. In addition, if you talk with them about their "methods" on how to start, you get a feel for the person. After this talk and mini-lesson, do you like this person? Do they inspire confidence? Sorry to...

    MR-8 and MIDI

Can you program little "snippets" of music on your synth? Little loops? Midi does two major things: 1) transmits messages that says "This Note at THis Volume"- for example "Play Second Space C at 75% of full volume). Basically, its like "electronic sound"- instead of a cord from your guitar to...

    Fostex reliability/service?

The only time I got an extended service warranty was with my wifes laptop- and I got it through Toshiba. 2 years later, I dropped the laptop with a wireless card sticking out of its side- well, that card slot never worked again. I brought it in for repair*, and the next day I had a laptop with...

    guitar electronics

GOod looking' out, FalseRevRG. Not only have I found a local boy's pickups, but from that Citypaper article I now know why I hate my guitar in comparsion to many other's that I've played: THE DOUBLE HUMBUCK! If I had two singles and a double, or three singles, I'd get a much different sound-...

Fruity Loops Is A Piece Of Shit

I guess that's where I'm super lucky- I've got a couple of extra cheapo computers, so I can read on one screen and "compute" on the other.

    Best budget Bass for recording

Ditto. I personally was very impressed with the low end Ibanez basses (this was a few years ago). But I think the classic "go to the shop and play it and find one that sounds good" answer wins the day on this one.

    Robot voice - How to?

Dewd, I used to do that ALL the time! It works best with a big 'ol box fan- the bigger the better. Hmmm, I'll try it tonight with my dinky 10 little oscillating fan...:) :D

Fruity Loops Is A Piece Of Shit

No one gives out printed manuals anymore- its all online PDF's these days. Personally, I think thats cool- because I'd rather have 20 copies of a PDF lying around on various hard-drives than a printed book that I will loose- but that's me.

find another instructor or go without?

get a good drum method book (hey, any one have suggestions?) and practice it on your own. If you have discipline you don't need a teacher to tell you "Left right left left right left right right", and if you don't have any discipline, then you aren't gonna do it anyway! (Just like me on piano...

Get decent drums with ONE mic?

I'm with jake. I've got some crappy mica-sonic (?) drums and I use a regular mic stand at its lowest level and point a Shure at the kick (from the side where the drummer sits because its up against a wall!). Due to that position i get great kick sound (obviously) but snare, hi-hat and cymbals...

    guitar electronics

oh yeah- your other question. What sound am I going for? I want my guitar when its plugged in to sound like my guitar when I'm playing it unplugged. When I arpeggiate (is that even a word?) I want to clearly hear what I'm picking. I don't want my low-end strings to get muddy. I was messing...
