Any recommendations on getting started with amp repair?
My 14yr old amp needs help badly- one of the 1/4" inputs doesn't work anymore (I guess the contacts have been bent back) and I'm getting bad noise (although I should probably check my guitar, my cables and where its plugged in, etc. )

Thanks!

also- should I just bring it in and have someone else fix 'er up? Whats the cost/benefit analysis for YOU?

Is the 1/4" input the only problem? You can get a new one from radio shack for about $2.00 (granted that you can solder the connections). Yes you will get horrible noise if you have lost the ground. A sudgestion would be go to home depo, and get a new 10' piece of so cable (black flexible cable that has 3 insulated wires in it #14 or larger) and replace your ac cord. Probably replace the male plug also. I think that for a budget of $20.00 you can get the amp good as new. Also look to see if your receptacle you are plugged into actually has a ground connection.
