    movie score law

I believe I saw somewhere on this forum someone saying that it's possible to use commercial songs royalty-free and without permission if you only play 2 minutes of it. Is this true? Thank you.

    Bad english?

I, personally, as an American, like rock with a british accent. It always seems to personify more of a the rock sound. I think of the clash and the sex pistols, the accent accents the style, giving it a harder edge it seems.

    Lyrical Poetry, Poetic Lyrics

Nearly all my lyrics could work as poetry, all of them if you think in a modern sense. The lyrics come extremely easily to me (to people's amazement, oddly), and I let someone else do the extra music. I, personally, don't care for much poetry. I like some of frost's catchy tunes and...

The best way to learn how to do Screaming Vocals?

By faking it I didn't mean using effects...I don't really even see how it would be possible and sound realistic. I mean by singing from your throat and distorting it using your voice to sound as it would if you were screaming. It may turn out better even.

    water and the vocal chords

That's pretty handy to know. Could it be people thinking of soothing their throat rather than vocal cords?

Settle down, I'm not a singer.

    water and the vocal chords

I was watching american idol (don't laugh) last night and one of their contestants said they drink a shot of olive oil before performing. They said it REALLY moisturizes the vox cords. Might be good for y'all to know.

    monotone voice

I don't intend on smiling while singing anyways...sounds like a waste. If I'm paying attention to a singer I want to see them doing everything in their power to do their performance how they want it as opposed to making it 'look good'.

Change the subject of the forum...

Change the name already. I had to send 2 PM's to figure out where the vocal forum was..it's insanity. Events Electronics => Vocal/Life Performance

    monotone voice

I can imitate voices pretty well (in my opinion), but I never trust my voice to my own ears. Thanks for the advice, I'll try the voice tests. I'm not gonna be screaming (much) and when I do I'm gonna just distort my voice--I can barely talk for a long time w/o hurting my throat, so it'd wreak...

IYHO - what is are nessesitys for a home studio

In these days I would consider a computer with some recording software a necessity. It really isn't, but I believe it to be the most efficient (physically and economically) recording equipment.

IYHO - what is are nessesitys for a home studio

A recording device. Even so simple as a little mic plugged into a tape player that records. There's a studio!

    monotone voice

I have no singing experience and am going to be singing for a punk band (not true singing). My voice is extremely monotone (my dad even jokes with me and talks like a robot). My question is this: are there ways for me to exemplify the dynamics in my voice, or should I just learn to make my...

The best way to learn how to do Screaming Vocals?

Screaming for any extended amount of time can hurt you. Even talking a lot in a day hurts my throat sometimes.

Can't perform well in a studio

Do it live and process it until perfection. Attempt to clean it up as well as possible. Or, the harder way. Bring the band members and let them get you pumped, have them jump around while you do your vocals or something.

The best way to learn how to do Screaming Vocals?

Yeah, fake it. It would be kinda awkward practicing scream-singing anyways. Just distort your voice properly and it'll sound just like you're screaming.
