Travis- I'll try to get the updated mix up by midweek. I'll post to this thread when the mix is updated and uploaded. I passed your compliment on to the band. Thank you.

Track/Travis- Thanks for listening. Thought the backing vox needed something-more reverb, maybe? More tweaks! :D

Jake- I'll tweak the compression and I'll re-upload the song. Thanks!

Jake- I haven't cleaned up the beginning or the end yet-I've still got to do my fades, etc. What do you mean by "ironed out"? I'm going to assume that's good, unless you tell me different... :D Thanks for the feedback!

Geet= Just a TOUCH of autotune on the vox-he doesn't need much. Vocals were all done with an SP C1. Sax was recorded with an ADK A51 Type III. Keys and bass were DI to my Soundtracs Topaz, and drums were recorded with CAD KBM412 on kick, Oktava 012's on O/H, and a set of CAD snare/tom mics on...

Chris- Thanks for listening. I need to do something with the backing vocals...that was one of the things on my list. The kick seems a little dead to me, but I haven't EQ'ed it much yet...I might be able to do something good with it yet... The lead vox seemed a little hot in places, but in...

    What is spam?

I have my studio name in my sig. Not because I expect a random poster from SoCal to decide to travel to the middle of the country to use my studio because of my link, but because (once my web site is done) I would like people to decide if my opinion carries any weight based on what I do OUTSIDE...

    DJL's SP B1 Thread - Looky here!

I just did a member search... ...and hr.com doesn't have a member named "DJL". Hmmmmmmmm.....I wonder what name he'll come back as?

    Serious Question

Thank you for teaching us how to treat newbies, DJL. Now, if you only treated experienced members the same way....

A band reunion after 41 years, DJL, and life in general.

Thanks for your wisdom. I'm sure that in the course of your 19 posts, you've had a chance to figure out exactly how much Harvey has contributed to this forum (and the industry in general) and came up with that thoughtful, witty response based on YOUR extensive experience. Please, start a Big...

    Marshall Electronics MXL V57M

Same for me...I use it occasionally, particularly on one guy that records in my place once in a while. It sounds great on him. Other than that, I don't use it much. If you can pick it up for $50 or less, do it.

    Studio Projects C1 + ADK A51 Comparisons

I've got a C1 and a set of A-51 Type III's. The 51 works pretty well for most voices, sax, and acoustic guitars. The C1 is obviously a good male vocal mic. It's my first choice out of th elocker for vocals. The 51 doesn't have the hyped mid-high end that the C1 has, so it tends to be a little...

    Best applications for Oktava Mk-319?

In keeping with the spirit of the thread..... I've found it's best used on toms as the actual drumstick itself, particularly after the duct tape mod has been performed. It capures every nuance of metal grille meeting drum head perfectly. DO NOT, under any circumstances, try to spin the mic like...

Wrapping tape around an Sm-58(or similiar shaped mic?)

Put your strip of tape from top to bottom instead of winding it around the mic.

Used Oktava MK 319 only 230 bucks!! (cough...)

...for only $269! But you get a pretty cedar box that makes it sound better.

    Mic test...

#4 and #6 were LOUDER than the other 4 tracks, so that may have had some impact on what I heard, but they certainly stood out from the others. Lots of proximity effect on #6...both of them seemed to have a midbass bump that made them sound fuller. I didn't like #3-very thin, almost edgy...
