Interface is bad? Mac sucks? What?

Just an update, I went ahead and plugged the interface into a powered usb hub and I have not had any crashes yet... So, it seems I am up and running smooth! So much for that excuse of upgrading! haha

Skynyrd tune done in a different style

Wow, what an impressive cover and it's sounding great! However, I agree with Robus on some of the lead guitar parts getting a bit peircing. Not sure if its the volume but might be some nasty upper mids you can sweep out? The overheads sound REALLY great! What mic's did you use??? I mean like...

Interface is bad? Mac sucks? What?

I am guessing it was probably the usb cable itself. I replaced the old small skinny cable with a nice thick cable. Still holding strong! As for development my 9-5 is in Land Surveying and I write software for 3D Mapping support. Currently working with stereo imaging from drone sensors. I...

Interface is bad? Mac sucks? What?

Thanks so much for your detailed message! So far It has held steady so I have hi hopes that it holds strong. I do have a powered hub and will go ahead and switch that over too just to be sure. My original thought was to leave it as minimal as possible but the power draw makes sense so if it...

Interface is bad? Mac sucks? What?

Ah, you will have to forgive me because I am pretty new to mac. (I only switched cause I figured it would be more stable!) lol... In your most recent message... 1.) How do I check that? 2.) I have no idea how to do this! lol 3.) I have not been able to nail down anything that could lead to...

Interface is bad? Mac sucks? What?

So it just crashed again, It is not listed in Audio/Midi setup anymore. But it's still getting powered and lit up so I am guessing its a driver issue? I am on Seirra 10.12.5 and the driver version for the M-Audio I am using is 1.2.11. When I open the FastTrack C400 it says the hardware is not...

Interface is bad? Mac sucks? What?

Not sure where to go for help but I have moved locations and now my main recording rig is located elsewhere. I am left with my old 2 channel interface which is an M-Audio FastTrack C400. This little guy used to be so solid on windows 7 (5 years ago), but I am now on an iMac and it just...

    Cubase 4 Workflow Questions

Yes, I agree there are computer performance issues. Not sure exactly why as its a pretty decent laptop. Intel i3 chip and 6gb ram. I can use my desktop machine which is the workhorse but realistically I am wanting to work smarter not just "throw CPU at it". I am looking for workflow advice. I...

Can I send an outboard mixer signal to a Tascam 2488neo?

What is your goal? To free up inputs on the tascam? Certainly you could run a submix stereo pair out to the tascam but if its for recording purposes wouldnt you be way better off keeping the individual tracks?

    Cubase 4 Workflow Questions

So I have been doing this for a while and just wondering if there is a better approach. Current Workflow Create New Project1 Record Scratch Track of entire band. Just a couple of room mic's and (Midi Input from eDrum Kit to trigger Superior Drummer) Export Stereo Track of Drums to new Audio...

    Tascam 2488 Preamp noise

TASCAMMAN, it is the orginal MK1 version i am using and this is a new issue. It used to be really quiet but now it isnt. I am suspecting possibly something in the power supply area maybe? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3f5pj3q0zhhvvsl/9iCWMPh1ID

    Tascam 2488 Preamp noise

Here is an example of the worst channel which is channel "B". Any track I assign to the input "B" experiences this noise. I have raised the level considerably so you can hear it. The sound that you hear that sounds like me turning the dials like a dirty pot is NOT. When i turn the gain up you...

    Tascam 2488 Preamp noise

So my 2488 has started to experience a new problem which is a "noise" that I can only chalk up to the preamps. Thing thats weird is that it does it on every channel on every input. If I arm a track for recording it gets this nasty noise. Its not super loud but its there. I am recording in 24 bit...

    Pre-Count lead in for a Tascam 2488

Thanks RAMI, Thats the way I ended up doing it but most of the computer based DAW's i have used have a pre-count lead in but i suppose it makes more sense to just add the extra bars up front...

    Pre-Count lead in for a Tascam 2488

So i have not been using the In-Outs yet. Just simply starting recordings from the very beginning. The reason i want a pre-roll is if my tracks start on the downbeat of measure 1 i would like a couple measures of the metronome to get me on time before it starts actually recording. (Or some time...

    Pre-Count lead in for a Tascam 2488

RAMI, Thanks for the response, I did setup the pre-roll but it didn't do anything. from the manual it appears this function is for when you are using "Auto-Punch" or something like that. I'm still searching for this answer so if you come across an anwer i would be greatful. Current work around...

    Pre-Count lead in for a Tascam 2488

How do you enable a pre-count for say like 2 or 4 measures leading into recording? I have searched this manual but i must be search impared. I would like to be able to hit record, and then have it click off 4 measures before it actually starts recording. I will post a link to my manual in case...

    Tascam 2488 Midi help needed

I really like the idea of a stand alone recorder. Im still getting used to it. I can definately get things recorded and setup on my PC way faster but in the long run i think teaching myself how to use this 2488 would be a good thing. The whole reason i want to do this midi thing is because i...

    Tascam 2488 Midi help needed

Zeekle, That procedure DOES change the kit sound but its for the playback of the midi patterns not the tone's that are generated from the midi data being received from the drum kit. Anyways, i have NOT been able to record or output midi data. I can record my electronic drumset but its the tones...

    Tascam 2488 Midi help needed

Anybody? Current workaround is to record the midi with the volume on that channel all the way down and run a patch cable from the drum module out to another channel on the 2488 and just monitor that while recording the midi..
