Plosives, the best method of dealing with them tracking and mixing?

Back in the day, I remember bending up a coat-hanger into a circle and swiping a pair of my wife's pantyhose... Ha!

Plosives, the best method of dealing with them tracking and mixing?

The thing is, with everyone (especially consumers) using sub-woofers now, it's sort of like a new issue to pay attention to. Or at least, needs some reconsideration.

Plosives, the best method of dealing with them tracking and mixing?

Diaphragm rattlers, input circuitry chokers, and unintentional kick drum mockers... the ubiquitous plosive - how are you dealing with them? Best type of pop screen? In post: Snipping them off? High Shelf?

KRK Rokit 8s vs Yamaha NS-10s

I think the customary thing is to avoid name dropping and bragging, because in the end none of that matters. What I've learned is that when the record spins, the BS stops. Everyone can tell who has done the work and who needs to work harder. Ahem... back to the topic at hand -- I haven't a/b'd...

Overwhelming number of Cakewalk users here at homerecording...

I didn't realize how popular Cakewalk was. I've been using it for years, but didn't know I had so much company. how many of you have tried other daw's, and why did you decide on Cakewalk?

Audio doesn't play for a few seconds after pressing play

It's supposed to do that. What it's doing is "looking ahead" to do some of the processing. This makes everything play like it's supposed to instead of having latencies like other daw's that will remain unmentioned.

    what is dark? hi-pass filter?

Another possibility is to watch a graph to see the lowest note and do your low cut based on that. but still, It's best to get used to hearing it. The main idea is to keep from having your amp wasting a bunch of power making your woofers dance with vibrations you can't even hear. I spoke with a...

    What do you think?

In short, the vocal was recorded with a soft headphone mix (I can tell because of how you're singing), the vocal is too loud, the vocal dynamic and compression isn't managed, and there are timing issues throughout the song. Use your daw's time stretcher (I use Sonar, but I think most of them...

Do You Think My Voice is Good?

Perfectly adequate. Time to tell the local studios that you're available for doing demos (singing songwriters songs for money). I can see you buying your own car when you're 16. Go for it! PS: it will also help you get used to recording and find songs for an album. Your life is already...

    Help a noob?

Even from what I hear in Nashville, you're not a noob. If you want it to sound like a studio recording, in that space, you'll have to dry the room and teach the band to play separately... sometimes hard to do without losing the groove, but worth the effort.

    what is dark? hi-pass filter?

lol that's funny, but seriously, I think you may be misquoting them... perhaps they said it was "dark, on the low side"? To me that would mean that it didn't capture the highs very well... Anyway, your high-pass or low cut is easily set by setting the cut close to the frequency of the lowest...

    Mixing Lead Vocal Hard L & R?

'Best not to push the vocal back in the mix, essentially your lead vocal is mono, so what you're accentuating is the stereo verb (which should be in a bus). Anyway, it sounds like you've entered the world of Sound-scape or Placement. Have fun! But the vocal should be front and center unless you...
