    Rattle in my 57?

The grill isn't loose, neither is the black casing around it. If I put my finger on it to hold it in place and then shake it, I can still hear the rattle. It sounds like there is something underneath the grill. What I need is someone that can tell me how to remove the top of the mic without...

    Rattle in my 57?

I have a 57 that I have had for about 3 years and it recently developed a "rattle" in it...as in when you shake it, it sounds like there is something loose underneath the grill. It still works fine but obviously something is wrong with it, or in it. Anyone know how to remove the top on it...

    bass strings touching pick ups

It sounds like the action is set too low for your playing technique. This causes the strings to make contact with the pickups too easily, creating the nasty "pop" you are talking about. My suggestion would be to take the bass to a local music shop and have them raise the action on it...

A studio out in the cold?

I would say that this is a bad idea. Why take the chance with all of you equipment? You can probably rent a climate controlled storage space for pretty cheap and the cost would be worth it to protect your investment in gear.

"Seasons Change" First song using my protools rig.

I think mostly everything sounds really good, for the genre. This is a nicely written song... I do think that there are some sibilance issues. The sssss's are a bit sharp and airy...try rolling some of the top end off... Also, the tom hits at 3:37 seem to be distorted. I noticed them...

    omni mic q

Using two omni mics, spaced apart, should give you an excellent stereo image. The use of a matched pair is usually recommended but you could try using two of the omnis you have and see what happens. One mic, unless it is a stereo mic, will not give you a stereo representation.

Isn't that one of those Neumann's that Mercenary Audio is selling off for super cheap?

    Audio Technica

I have a pair that I use mainly for drum overheads and guitars. They always sound great.

    Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow

I think Sadam would use one of those Shure "Green Bullet" blues harmonica mics...just because it has Bullet in the title...:D

I recently recorded a rock project and used a D112 on the bass cabinet. It turned out sounding great, the best bass sounds I have ever gotten.

what to adjust on the 1680 first for levels?

Place the desired channel to "input" mode, plug mic/line into channel, apply phantom power if needed, adjust gain level... Is this what you are asking for?

young peoples recording, strait from the basement

I listened to Everything... First suggestion...turn down the level on the vocals. They are waaayyyy too loud and upfront. Maybe less volume and some reverb would be a good start. Good luck...

I have a pair of Yorkville's and I think they are pretty amazing...they do not lack low end. I haven't heard the KRK's but the Yorkies are rockin'.

Between the two I would definitely go for the 58.

    Final Mix (not mastered)

I think the recording sounds pretty amazing but I'm gonna have to agree with TripleM about the click around 37 seconds. I'm listening to it with my Grados and it's before the the singer says "glad" and its definitely not of human origin.

    nature recording

You could just get a minidisk recorder with a small pair of omni condenser mics. I have a few friends that make bootlegs of concerts this way and it works surprisingly well. The mics are battery powered and it makes for a compact, easily transportable, recording setup. It seems that it would...
