Now that I've bought a Fender Select Strat. I can get the tone I've been trying to get from my Gibson ES 335.

Sold a few over the past year or two- recently acquired a Gibson Memphis 2015 ES 335, a Fender Select Port Orford Stratocaster circa 2014 ( both new ) and two Chinese electro-acoustic resonators. Collection now reduced to 19.

Thanks Mack- no, just an empty template file with no associated plugins, so it shouldn't be a problem then. You've directed my thinking a bit further up the road though. If the PC and the MAC both have the same, third party, plugins can we exchange project files for editing at either end ?
