    question about MALE/FEMALE RCA CABLES

It says the jack is female, right? So you get the cable with male ends. I've never seen a male RCA jack on a piece of gear. Do you see male or female jacks on your 2496? -c

Getting nothing on Digital In VS880EX

Figured it out. Just needed to set the System to DigIn1 from INT. I hit the "System" button until I got "SYS System PRM", then hit YES. Then used parameter buttons until I got to "SYS MasterClk=..." and used Time/Value to get "DigIn1".

Getting nothing on Digital In VS880EX

I have an Alesis unit coming into the Digital In on my VS880EX and have assigned tracks 7 and 8 to the "On" position for In1, but am getting no signal. What is going on? What am I doing wrong? -c

One very good all around microphone

my two cents 1) The Shure KSM44 is a GREAT, beautiful, warm mic. Three patterns: cardioid, omni, fig-8. So warm, and comes with awesome shockmount. $550 to $699, depending on where you shop. 2) PPA LD-2ube - wonderful tube mic, incredibly warm. 9 patterns. Best part: only $299...

For those of you who long to be a "pro" engineer...

I find this story totally fascinating. I would say that over half of the job description of an audio engineer is to be a psychologist/counselor. It's amazing to me that Mixerman has even stayed this long. I would have walked out as soon as the "gak" showed up. That is simply not tolerable...

    Need a good CD burner

Now now, you two! No spatting on my threads!! Thanks for all the advice. I can see where you are both coming from. I am actually now looking at the Alesis Masterlink, although that is not quite in the budget. So an interim $200 consumer model may be the way to go right now. BTW- do any of...

    Masterlink any good?

I know I might be asking the choir here, but I was just introduced to the Masterlink tonight and don't know much about its performance. Are you all generally satisfied with it? What do you think of it? I tried to find other reviews in this board, but could not find one. Sorry if this is a...

    Need a good CD burner

Wow- thanks guys! OK- what I envision is the following: Someone comes over to my home studio. Records a voice-over demo. I put it on CD for them. THEY take it and make their own duplicates along with whatever packaging they choose to do. They should be able to take that CD that I prepared...

    Need a good CD burner

Thanks, Zeke. One question, then: Will my clients be able to go make their own copies then? I know some CDR's cannot be duplicated. -c

    Need a good CD burner

I have a Roland vs880ex hard disk recorder. Have clients doing demo work and want to send them with something on CD. Was recommended the Sony CDR-W33. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance. -c

    Shure KSM44 mic

I have a couple of these. Looking to sell one. It's been used 2 or 3 times on a couple practice sessions. Non-smoke environments. I am just not using it enough to justify having two. Make an offer. Generally $699 new.

    voice-overs

I am starting out in voice-overs and want to market myself to all markets. Of course I will be converting from wav to mp3, etc. and emailing audio files and demos. I have a Roland VS880EX, Mackie 1202, and decent condensor mics. Looking at CD burners and computer editing software. Is there...

Tube mics with a lot of patterns

Pacific Pro Audio I know the guys there at Pacific Pro Audio and I would recommend working with them any day. Their $99 large diaphragm condensor mic is very popular amongst many studios in L.A. I am sure their new $300 tube mic I am sure is great. I am getting one as soon as my budget...

So what makes a Radio Shack mic so crappy anyway?

What is it about them that makes them as bad as they are?

    acoustic guitar mic's?

For the hole: The AKG C3000B ($299) is not bad. Very bright, so it would depend on the guitar and the player. I love my Shure KSM44 ($675-699) for acoustic guitar. Great vocal mic, too. Very warm sound. It's a bit more in price, but the other Shure KSm series mics (the 27 and 32) are less...
