    building a kickass! studio

Could it be that dawg711 is as brilliant as he seems and was able to work this demographic of people in the recording field? It seems that he could move into a producing forum and get a same yet different result. The poster knows what he is after and is hot on "it's" heals. IMHO keep the...

Trouble Importing Video into Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.4

 Hey everyone, I have searched far and wide to have this question answered and everywhere I look it comes up a dead end. Here's the deal: I'm trying to import a video project that I'm scoring the sound track for. The video file came as a .AVI file which I converted to a .WMV file using...

Would this be a good idea? (maintenance)

I work in a kitchen and we can't even think about putting the "WD" on anything. Rust is not a problem for me and my staff, neither is squeaking parts. This includes: wheels, slicer blades (which creates more friction that a bike chain), tongs, electric knife sharpeners, door hinges, and...

    Converting Acoustic Drums to E-Drums

Triggers sense vibrations and, after doing so, deliver a cue to an electronic device. That electronic device reacts to the vibration (at this point the only sound that is audible, comes from an acoustic instrument.) The electronic device; whether it is a Roland TD9, Alesis DM5, or DAW plug-in...

    How's my drum sound?

Sound Wise: (Like previously stated) Check your mics and their position. Look into a compressor; however don't just add one thinking it will fix everything. Learning to use a compressor, is like learning to play an instrument. On a side note. . . what shape is your kit in? Do a fine tune...

    That's not a kick drum!

I wonder how much music could have been made throughout this post if everyone did not have compare their proverbial "*$#@" size. Typically I am not one to intervene, however, this thread has been an overwhelming waste of time. If you want to know the problem with today's music scene/cultural...

    My studio construction thread

Probably the most heart-felt studio I have ever seen. Strat, I am in awe at the fact; you ran the course and finished strong. This is, in my opinion, one of the last pure studios around. Dream+ability+determination= Whitestrat and His studio. Thanks seems ridiculous at this point. -Z

    Audio Work-Station for Filming

Here is a proposed model of a portable audio work-station. I have been working with some independent producers who need a more concise audio picture. As of now they are running the audio through the camera. If anyone has experience/advice, please comment. REAR VIEW: Thanks for the...

Hi-Hat Drop Clutch??? What's the point?

I just upgraded the hi-hat clutch on one of the kits I play. Because of pricing, believe it or not, it was cheaper to get a better clutch that was equipped with the drop clutch feature, than it was to get a good old fashioned hi-hat clutch. That should have been my first clue . . . My question...

    Drum Heads

EC2's are the most versatile head out there if you ask me. They come with a dampner ring built in, and the coating gives a great touch and feel. Definitely designed for a moderately to less controlled drummer. Great heads. Feel is the goal!!
