    Elvis mic

Brockton Music Works has some. Go to: brocktonmusic.com, "microphones" and scroll to the bottom. Some have pics. Lots of metal. The Shure 51 looks pretty funky.

    AT-4033 vs. Rode NT1

Recording Engineer, I was surprised too. I would have thought the opposite, but my ears tell me different. Dobro, It has been awhile, hasn't it. Just finished recording songs for a 2nd CD. I have to mix them down. the first one's been ready to go for over a month now, but I've had...

    AT-4033 vs. Rode NT1

Mike, I haven't used a 4033, but I've used a 4047, which on paper seemed like a better mic. I found it to be a little harsh with pronounced sibilance (even with a pop filter). I've since bought an NT1 and it sounds great! I've only used it for vocals so far, but it's well worth the money...

    By musicians, for musicians...

S8-N, Pirating is SELLING copied music, not recording it for personal enjoyment. Do you think everyone does this? I have no love for companies who give artists a bad deal, but that's the world we live in. Unfortunately, trusting someone in a business deal will more likely than not get you...

Well, the smiley with the joke, instead of the explanation, would have been nice. :)

    By musicians, for musicians...

Friend Eddie N, Maybe you haven't heard, but this country prosecutes pirates. It's attitudes like yours that make it a fight for people who want to use technology for their own music. No wonder the Music Industry is nervous, with people out there who think it's their right as a citizen to...

    Building your own computer?

Slot-1 is out, ppga is in. The slot-1 is still being sold, but Intel won't be making any more. The processors perform the same. The disadvantage of getting a socket 370 (for ppga) board is that you won't be able to use a Pentium II/III in it, if you decide to later on. Slot-1 to ppga...

    Just a little news

Geez, I'm usually skeptical about these things, but my head was in the clouds on this one. Thanks, everyone, for your advice.

    Just a little news

Well, good things DO come to those who bang their heads against computers. Since I've been getting so much expensive equipment to add to a room already full of gear, I've been thinking of getting a Home Security System. While at my local cable TV office (returning a cable converter box because...

    How do you do that?

The BBS converts punctuation into the smilies. Click on "faq" in the upper right of the screen and scroll down or click "How can I use smilies" and there's an explanation of what faces can be made. :) [This message has been edited by Howlin (edited 07-11-1999).]

    what do you use?

For guitar I use a Digitech Delay (400ms barely audible), Boss Delay (400ms normal level, used sparingly), Boss Chorus, all run through the effects loop of the amp (best way to keep the delay level low), and Reverb from amp footswitch (also used sparingly). For vocals I use a DOD TR3M...

How does the Marshall condenser sound?

Does anyone know about the Marshall MXL-2001 condenser mic? It's not the same as the amp company. It's a large diaphragm condenser mic. Music Emporium sells them for $199 with free cable. The specs are at www.mars-cam.com/mxl/mxl.html . Looks good on paper, and the price is sure right, but...

    Mackie CFX mixers

What do I see in the Musician's Friend catalog? A mid range Mackie compact with swept mids? I went to Mackie's site, but the CFX mixers are not there. I just wrote to them asking about it. The CFX-12 has 8 mono-2 stereo channels (2 more mic/line-2 less stereo than 1402), 16 effects, separate...

how should i burn to cd

Dragon, The HHB reffered to is a stand alone CD recorder, and an expensive one, at that. HHB is the US version of UK's TL Audio equipment. Speaking of HHB, I heard the HHB Radius 10 (US version of TL Audio's Ivory 5051) is an awesome preamp with 4 channels. I've been trying to find a place...

    Plextor 4X12...... SCSI ?

Who did you order it from? Companies sell OEM products and will say "OEM" "Bulk" or "Drive Only". This is less expensive than a retail kit and convenient for people who only need the drive. You need to check on the order and find out exactly what you're getting. If it's a kit, you should get...

    cheap computer studio

Don't use the Speaker Out, but it's OK to use a Line Out from the amp, if it has one. [This message has been edited by Howlin (edited 07-03-1999).]

    Plextor 4X12...... SCSI ?

Need some more information. I'm assuming it's PC and not Mac, you don't have a SCSI hard drive and adapter, no SCSI on the motherboard, and you already have it and know there's no card with it (did you order it online or by phone, and are you waiting to get it? If so, check on it to see if...
