Just in case anyone is having similar issues, I contacted Lexicon and apparently the S/PDIF only takes a digital signal clocked at 44.1 or 48khz so it looks like I'll need to get a little converter box to sync between the two
Thanks...that makes the most sense. It didn't seem like i'd need anything extra. I do have the stereo knobs pressed...i'll try recording through the spdif's using another source. the other inputs do work fine...i'll just have to do some more fiddling.
I recently got a teac 144 and now run into an issue outputting a stereo signal to my computer. if i'm outputting through the rca's to my speaker's there's no issue...however, to import it i plug it in through a lexicon omega. it won't come through in stereo. i've also tried going out from the...
well, the tape won't actually start playing, and it won't rewind, etc...
The main thing I noticed is that it didn't seem to be fitting because the two gold colored "arms" needed to be in some certain position so I had to hold the one part in place while screwing in the back plate. I haven't...
i still can't get the tape to "engage". the machine runs through the motions like it wants to...but nothing.
from looking at the picture everything "looks" right. my capstan area looks like the capstan in the picture but when screwing in the metal back plate (not the triangular portion but the...
Thanks guys for all the help! Really appreciated :) I got that belt back on and all the rubber pieces actually looked pretty good. I still went through and did some light cleaning and it sounds much better, cleaner. The contacts on the mixing board look amazing! Now...a new problem :(
In...
awesome...i think i'll start taking it apart tomorrow.
actually...i started taking it apart now that i am home from work. i started with a simple cleaning and this solved many of the issues: no more tape getting jammed and the tape could be fast forward but would not rewind. is that likely a...
i inherited a teac 144 and just plugged it in. i ran an old tape through and found that the playback head aren't probably feeding the tape and that rewind does not appear to work. i have yet to clean the heads or demagentize but i'm assuming these are unrelated issues. will the playback heads...
really good advice here...i fall on the side of getting the monitors if your purposes require it. i think they make a big difference as your piecing together a mix. you really want to hear how those frequencies are interacting...but again it would depend on what you're doing--but they're fun :)
hmm...are you using the omega as your primary playback as well? that is, anything played on your computer will play through the speakers/monitors that feed out of the omega? this is how mine is set up and i haven't had any problems (i use vegas, though). if you do that, it may side-step the...
i'm unfamiliar with the equipment you're using, but wanted to pass on what i use to do simultaneous recording: lexicon omega audio interface into vegas (but you can use cubase or pro-tools as well) where you are able to assign each track as its own input.
While it still may be a soundcard issue and you should look into the audio interface, it may be something as simple as checking to make sure that your inputs for the rca's aren't on mute. i would double check through the windows volume control before investing more money then ya need to.
I have to go with Tom on this one. I used to work as a mastering engineer, have since left and gone into teaching English, and have finally put together a home studio. Even having had a history as an ME I would not attempt to master my own stuff in my home studio and would gladly pay someone to...
thanks guys :) in the interest of promoting the artist his name is Anthony Retka, he plays in a Detroit group called Tone & Niche and this song (and those others) will be coming out on his solo album. Check him out...he's one of my favorite performers in Detroit!
