Reel to Reel vs. Tape

I am adding some analog components to my current setup. While I'm certain some of it is a taste thing which should I go for: a reel to reel or cassette? I am in the Detroit area and haven't found a big difference price-wise.

I would be more at home using a reel rather then cassette. If the price is about the same just weigh the functions and time it has been used and make a determination from that point. HINT HINT reel to reel!
