I've played around with a MXR Wylde Overdrive. It was designed to overdrive the amp, not so much to provide distortion. Works pretty well.

My wife has never been to one of my gigs. She can't stand the music. She listens to stuff like Meatloaf and Bon Jovi. The guys I'm playing with write songs that are "Kornish".
I'll be standing in the kitchen playing something like Crazy Train or some Slayer riffs, and she will come by and tell...
I have a 6 song CD that I sell at our shows. I tell people that it is usually $7, but I'll let them have it for $5. They cost me about $2 in materials and less than 5 minutes to burn the CD, print the CD, print the insert, assemble the thing and "shrink wrap" it. I sell about 10 at each show.
Looking for the shredders, eh?
Try Joe Stump, Rusty Cooley, Zakk Wylde and they guy from Children of Bodom, just to name a few.
Go to www.ibreathemusic.com and www.insaneguitar.com. They have all of the crazy shred shit you can handle. Nice people in the forums too.
I've seen a CD printed with one of these. I don't know anything about the circumstances behind it, but it didn't look very good. It was okay, but the stuff I've done with my Epson R400 looks a lot better.
I've got this guy who recorded his stuff on a Tascam 788. He needs it burned to a CD, but he has no way to do it. I told him I could run the RCA stereo out in to a pair of channels on my vf160, pan it, eq it, compress it and burn a CD.
I will record on 15&16, pan left&right, eq on 15&16 and...
If you don't get something with an internal CD burner you will have to import into a computer or buy an external CD burner. This is a bit over budget, but it would be a great all-in-one solution:

I started out with...
I record all tracks as close to 0dB as I can get them. Then do "internal mixdown" as close to 0dB as possible. Then I run tracks 1&2 through a 15 band stereo eq and a stereo compressor back to tracks 3&4 at 0dB(this would also work by bouncing 1&2 to 15&16 for compression.) Then do another...
I had exactly the opposite problem when I first got my vf160. Everything was muddy when I played it any where other than through my rig. I learned to compensate for it with eq when I mixed. Then I got some real monitors.
Without knowing what monitors you are using, it's hard to tell you where to...
The last guitar I bought(natural BC Rich NJ Warlock bass) I picked up brand new off of ebay for $400. The best the locals could do was around $600.
All of my other shit(of which there is a lot of) was purchased from Musicians Friend. They kick ass.
Well, the weekend tally is 19 sold, 2 "lost" and 1 swapped out with a club owners older CD. I have 3 left. Thats a profit of about $60!
From my own experience, giving them away makes them worthless. People will take them simply because they are free. When you leave the venue you will find the...
On the way to the gig I whipped out a copy of the CD and the two guitar players were like,"fuck him, we're selling these."
Got a pretty positive crowd response. I could not hear my bass at all. Sold enough CDs to pay for most of the after show trip to Denny's. Back in to the breach tonight!
Well, that's the problem. He HAS heard about ten people, including his band mates, say that the CD kicks ass(I can verify this because I heard them say it). It did a smash up job of scoring gigs too.
There are also four other people on those recordings, myself being one of them. I know people...
I've seen topics on this before, but search turned up nothing.
A little background:
A few months ago I recorded a 4 song demo for a local band. They didn't have a bass player, just a singer, drummer and two guitarists(one of the guitar guys played bass on the demo). This demo was intended to...
Sorry if I was misleading. It's suppossed to look like a bunch of lavalamps, not actually be wax in hot oil. The cavities will have some sort of liquid in them.
When I got mad at my college room mate, I would shake up his lavalamp. Man, would he ever get pissed!
I had a strap with a zebra pattern and this slick leather grain plastic/vinyl backing. It was pretty slippery. I used 2" wood screws and washers to attach it to my guitar.
That's no paintjob folks. It's a Strat with a bunch of lava lamps in it. At least, that's how I read the article. Don't know where my copy is, as my 15 year old daughter swiped it when she saw Billy Joe from Green Day on the cover.
Have to admit that the contest turned out to be pretty lame.
Outside of a service. Recording a xmas program for a CD project. It's mostly a choir with some solo stuff and some narraration.
$700 bucks for a pair of SM81s is too steep. Even $200-300 a piece on Ebay is too much. I'd like to use the good stuff, but the budget just isn't there.
