    Question for Central Station Users

I've got a CS and I love it. For Vox I set up the vox mic into my sytek and into my computer, next I set up a second mic next to the vox mic and run it into my cheap mixer. I take a line out from the back of the cs and plug it into the mixer, so I get the music, and adjust my monitor mix from...

    Public Mix Contest #6

Yeah, I'm sure it's pretty bottom heavy, I'm still having trouble finding the happy place for my lowend on my Wharfedales. I'm definatly going to work on that, as well as compressing the bass diffrently, a lot of the upper twang on the bass gets too loud at times. As for your mix, it does...

    Public Mix Contest #6

Your mix sounds kinda trebley, and lacking the low mids and lows. Some of your perc. sounds a little bit loud, especially the conga bend. Also your lead double sounds a little loud for a double and it cramps the lead vox's style, rather than backs it up. Your backup vox sound a little loud...

    Public Mix Contest #6

Sounds pretty solid, I like how the low end sits. Some of the percussion stuff is a little loud, like the guiro and the conga bends. Sounds like you hard panned the backup vox, and to me it sounds like they're too outside the music. Not bad though!

Ok, here's my first version, if anyone has any comments they would be totally appreciated! www.blueroomrecordings.com/nikmix6.mp3 I think it's pretty solid, but I'm sure I'll change my mind in a day or so. It always kinda scares me when I'm happy with my first mix, because later I usually hate...

    Help w/gift for husband...

The cheapest way, and probably the best quality would be to snag a digi mbox off of ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41784&item=3764888246&rd=1 ($280), and grab an oktava mk319 ($100 or less). This way you can burn a cd with your computer, you get two pretty quality...

Automated, MMC console $4,000 or less?

Is there any quality console under four grand that will do automatic recall, and has mmc so I can control Nuendo as well? I'm expanding my studio soon, and I'm doing a bit of research on consoles. The console dosen't have to be huge, at least 24 channels, preferably with returns and sends so I...

    A Recent Demo

Sounds really good actually, what is the rest of your setup? The mix is solid, the only thing I could even say is maybe a tad less reverb on the vox. Nice job and good song!

I'm tossing up the new version of the achive on my server too for anyone who still needs it. It's a speedy server and I've got plenty of bandwidth still. www.blueroomrecordings.com/heavenarchive.zip. It should be up in another 35 min or so.

Here's my rough mix not my final. www.blueroomrecordings.com/nikmix5.mp3. I think this one is pretty close, but there's probably a few changes I'm going to make before I put up my final. Let me know what you guys think! (it imported fine for me, however lots of the tracks were really quiet...

    Sytek owners...

I have one and I love it. Sounds great on everything. Actually I'm about to get a second, then I'm going to check out some OSA pre's to help fill out the other 8 inputs I need quality pre's on. The Syteks are a great buy hands down.

    Dark slimy jazz in here...

Yep, we have the whole song layed out pretty much, we just need to decide how many bars the other instruments will need to solo for, then we'll be set. The song will probably end up around 6 minutes or so in the end with all the changes. We also are writing 2 other songs that you guys will...

Thanks for the replies! I'm not sure what chords he's playing, but I'll check next time he's over. We probably won't be done tracking this one for a month or two, as we're still hashing out the song's form. Plus after we track drums and keys we still have to get everyone to collaborate.

Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 Pro Actives have arrived.

Yep the plug in back is double duty, it takes 1/4" or xlr. I'm using Mogami Gold cables to hook them into my Central Station. Those blue lights are fucking bright! I have to cover them up because they're distracting, lol.

This is the first jam of a song I'm recording with my friend. There's a bunch of flubs, but we're still jamming it out, and this is only the third take we've done. We're using his Fender Rhodes through my Vox Valvetronics. Eventually we'll add real string bass, bongos, congas, trumpet, and...
