I have problems with my sound card

Does your sound card have line inputs ?? If so use these and not the mic inputs on the sound card , the Mic inputs are for mics not the line level output from your mixer ..... Cheers

Best clean, crisp snares these days?

I use these snare wires that are like 3 times as wide as your standard snare wires , they cover probably 75% of the snare , they sound great with a Lot of Crack (not the kind you smoke ) , anything else just sounds weak to me now ..... Cheers

    Presidents microphones

Well I suspect if one Mic was in Phaze and the other out of Phaze it would be pretty close to not haveing any Mic at all as an in and out of phaze signal will tend to cancell each other out and all you would hear would be the differances between the 2 signals ... Phaze cancellation is a Bitch !!!

    Rigged up poweramp

This won"t work for a number of reasons ... What you are doing when you take all the Positives and the negatives and wire them together is you are paralelling the amps , which would deliver higher power but only into a lower impedance load , For paralelling to work all the components in each...

    Just sharing...

The problem with wooden enclosures is that the wood is usually too thick to mount Pots, switches or Jacks , most pots, switches, jacks have about a max of 1/4in of threading and with 1/4 in plywood you won"t be able to get the Nuts on the threads , one solution is to counter sink an area the size...

    Poor Microphone signal in Mixcraft

Actually an audigy card is crap for audio recording ... For a microphone you need real XLR Microphone inputs and the audigy doesn"t have them .... for the Price of the audigy card you could have bought an actually studio recording card that will let you do real multitrack recording , the audigy...

    Poor Microphone signal in Mixcraft

Mixcraft 4 is software right ?? what type of interface do you have ?? All Microphones need a Mic preamp or a interface with preamps in it or a mixer with preamps , basicly any instrument or mic needs a preamp of some sort .... Cheers

My distortion sucks and i don't know why...

One mistake poeple make when recording direct guitar is they listen to the recording and think it sounds thin and lifeless so they think by adding more distortion they will thicken up the tone which usually doesn"t work , what usually does work is to use less distortion and More tone shapeing...

Balanced line driver (DRV134) and noise

There are other ways to get a ballanced output , some much easier that a DRV134 .... There is the output transformer route , Expensive , but easy and you can drop the DC servo when useing an output transformer ..... You can use a Unity gain inverter to get the -minus output for the Ballanced...

Can I run a preamp into phantom power

Hi , That is actually just a front end for a Mic preamp it isn"t the whole circuit ..... and since the circuit is discrete you would have to match transistors and do some tweaking to get it to work properly .... if you are interested in building a simple high quality mic preamp take a look at...

Can I run a preamp into phantom power

Hi , what schematic is that ?? Ive been guilty of posting many schematics .... :D

Can I run a preamp into phantom power

It would depend on the output circuitry of the Preamp that is getting phantom power fed into it ..... Many mic preamps have output capacitors that are polarazed and if fed 48v it could reverse bias the capacitors and cause them to explode , while the 48v is current limited and probably wouldn"t...

Why can't all drummers tune their drums?

Ive been playing drums for about 23 years and I play guitar and bass also and drum tuneing has allways been my weak point , I can get the snare and bass drum no problem and I can tune and toms fairly well but I allways get this bad ringing overtone that just sounds awefull , to get rid of this...

    Recording Distorted Guitar

I put the mic at a 45 degree angle right up against the grill and turn the gain down a bit from what you usually play at and crank up the Volume so you get a good speaker breakup , then use plugins and such to adjust the tone..... My amp also has two DI outputs (one post eq and one pre eq post...

    AKG Perception cutting out

Well if you had a DMM (Digital multimeter) and a audio probe(Basicly a little amp wioth a metal lead on it you can use to trace were the signal stops) you might be able to figure it out .... With the DMM you can check that the Capsule is getting the correct polarizing voltage , check the the...

Modding guitar effects for line level

You have nothing to worry about , Most pedals will put out a line level low impedance output ....... Most distortion pedals have a very high input impedance ( 1M +) and a low output impedance (50 ohm - 1k) ... There is no problem connecting a low impedance output into a High impedance input ...
