bump-- sennheiser 421U back up for sale. Just FYI, the text printed on the 421 where the clip slides in got flashed out. It reads "MD421U" and "Nr." (then the serial number) and Made in Germany.
Sennheiser SOLD!
i've owned the kiwi, the mouse (transformer version), the blueberry and the bluebird. i actually preferred the mouse for vocals and probably the blueberry second over the kiwi (ymmv of course). for me the kiwi was the clear winner on acoustic guitar and best all around mic with the 9 polar...
both, but...
I've owned and used a lot of preamps-- numerous Behringer and ART units through JoeMeek, M-Audio, Rane, Safe Sound, Symetrix, Five Fish, OSA, Chameleon Labs, Universal Audio and into the LaChapell, Langevin, A-Designs range and I can easily say that the T1953 was by far, the worst...
sweet-- nice work! i had a sweet partscaster made for my wife for last christmas as she's been getting into guitar and i have a usa g&l legacy strat that's completely stock (unusual for me-- i like to pimp out my guitars) that i love. i impulse bought used a ssh pickguard with a p-rails pup in...
Sadly I have to sell a few luxuries that I can't afford to keep around as the wifey and I start house hunting. Probably more coming too
First, a gorgeous sounding LaChapell 583s in great shape. It was checked over by Scott a few months ago and given a clean bill of health. It came with a...
All good dude :). It does really sleaze it up :)
It's funny-- I love to listen to music with Mesa-type and other high gain tones, but when I play or record I almost always prefer something "sleazy", Voxy or on the lower gain Marshall/higher gain Fender end.
I'd also +1 the attenuator idea...
Personally I really like the Tiny Terror. I got the Jule Amps mod for mine and it cleaned up the top end nicely and better tubes helped too. It's actually my second-- I bought one last year, got it modded, loved the sound, but thought it wasn't versatile enough so I sold it, tried a number of...
I think this is all great advice. I used modellers for a long time and they generally sound good, are consistent and yeah are very easy to use. One thing that I don't like that became clear to me when I started micing cabs more was that even without spending a ton of time on mic positioning...
wow:
10-06
8-07
currently:
Bees Neez Arabella tube microphone, Shure SM7, slightly bollocked EV PL-20, 2x Sennheiser MD421 U5's, different Audix I5, Oktavamodded N-Sonic faux Royer ribbon, crazy carbon mic made out of an old telephone receiver.
I'm a pretty fickle dude! :D
I have a MIG-50H. It's nice.
I'd:
1.) Take care of your pregnant girlfriend. It's definitely not worth the bad karma of buying an amp rather than taking care of your kid.
2.) Get the JCM-800 if you have enough $ leftover. There's no reason a MIG-50H should cost more than a JCM-800 in...
They changed the output transformer specs on the newest version (version 3?) and it's supposed to improve the sound. If you swap in a couple of nice tubes and pair it with a decent speaker it's pretty good-- especially if you have a nice OD or Distortion pedal to drive it. Some folks even like...
I don't know how much it would cost over there, but I'd recommend the Centrance MicPort Pro-- an integrated clean mic pre, headphone amp and usb interface.
Just about any type of character you'll get at that price will be the undesirable kind.
