all 6 strings are not created equal... for string spacing and action issues you gotta play it first. And unless your local store has an "acoustic room" go when it isn't busy; I assume many people have had the experience where an acoustice bass sounds much different when they bring it home.

Let me "pick" your brains: How would you compare them to a low-end Ibanez (like a gsr200 or its 5 string equivalent)? I've always thought Ibanez gave you a good product for not too much money, but its been years since I've tried out new low end basses.

what about recording the guitar clean, then dumping the wav to computer and effecting there? Then you just export back to the mr8. Any one do this now? What sw/plug ins?

Any brave souls out there have good luck with non-verified CF cards and the MR8? I found some Lexar cards at Target (the 4x is reported as not working and the 24x is recommended) but they were 12x.... right in the middle! Also, Best Buy around me has an awful lot of PNY cards. Any luck...

I appreciate your "YMMV" disclaimer, but is the MR8 REALLY that bad? Especially when compared to a cassette tape multitracker! The "workarounds" aren't that bad- a lot of people have mixers and pre's just "laying around", and additional memory cards are just the way it is with digital...
