Bouncing tracks....a to d, and back

along the lines of what bruce was saying... Or...(since cassette tapes aren't extremely expensive) you could keep your original tape and bounce the submix to a new tape. That way if you weren't happy with your first mix, you still have the original.

    building gobos

I really like the caster idea BK!!! The doors I am looking at are filled with foam I believe, but they're not extremely dense. Do you think particleboard would actually work better John? If so that's probably what I'll use, along with that Acoustic core stuff from OC. One more question... Should...

    building gobos

I understand what you're saying kristian, but I want to be able to move them around easily. It would be tough moving around three heavy doors that are hinged together, unless there is some way to take the hinges off (easily) so I could move one at a time...any suggestions??? Thanks for the info...

which microphone should I use on an upright bass?

Actually my other choices would be a SM57, Shure Unidyne B, or a SCM 900, but I thought one of the others would probably be a better idea. Or am I wrong about that?

    building gobos

As I was looking at Big K's studio I noticed what nice gobos he had and I thought "hey I need to make some of those!!!" So, I need to know if this will work nicely... I plan on buying some house doors from Home Depot(the cheapest and lightest ones I can find of course!) I would then hinge two or...

the low down on the Nady SCM 900

I wouldn't necessarily say that it's comparable to a 57 but it's definitely worth that extra ten bucks! One thing I did notice on these mics is the lack of a hole where the XLR cable should lock in place. That's not really a big deal to me though because it's a tight fit. I'll let you know how...

the low down on the Nady SCM 900

So we all want to know about this $99 SCM 900 don't we??? Well here's the deal...I opened a gift from my brother today and what did I see? It was a SCM 900 staring at me... Anyway...For the price I think this mic is a pretty good deal. It's built fairly well(thick brass casing)and it's...

Recording from preamp straight into Cakewalk

Make sure you're plugged into the Line-in (not the mic in.) I would crank it up past 50% too.

    synthesizing low basslines/hits?

Most Hip hop producers have or have had a MPC 2000 in their arsenal. These are wonderful if you've got the cash. Some of those low bass melodies are 808 or 909 kick drum samples pitched down. You can find tons of drum samples on the net, just search...

    question about studio musicians

Ok... I have a question about the payment of studio musicians. I have a client who wants to have a female backing vocal on one of his tracks. I happen to know quite a few talented singers who are willing to do this. My question is, do I get a cut from the "X" amount of dollars that I am charging...

This is stupid...but im going to ask anyways.....

You need to point the AT symbol at the guitar (the grille should be facing the guitar.) Also, I think when you see vocalists singing into an inverted mic it's just to keep the mic stand and cord out of the way.

How to loop pre-recorded drum patterns?

Well...it's either use a computer, use a sampler, or use a reel to reel(lots of cuttin' and pastin' going on!)

    CD-R recording

You shouldn't have to shut down your computer to do this(the dr. was just giving an example I believe.)You probably need to finalize the CD before it wiil show you the track numbers. By the way, it's kind of odd that your unfinalized CD worked in a regular CD player.
