Having a hard time with this one...

sam, thanks for the listen and comment. i'll fade back a bit on that solo to see if it will fit a little better. the thing I like about these guys is that they seem to draw on a number of types of music. (Sometimes unknowingly?) They have another song where the chord progression is very much...

Well... here goes nuthin... :p My first submission.

WATYF, Here's how you do it: Put the EQ on the guit trax and yank out / cut / supress the lows. That way you won't kill all the lows, just those of the ac. guitars. Queue

My second try on the first one

wow Kramer, I doubt I would've placed Andy Williams, but your're right! clay, this is good, Definitely needs some harmonizing and vocal arrangements. and the 'solo' is a little tough to get through, glad it was short ;) I like all the pads... Queue

Having a hard time with this one...

I'm having fun mixing this stuff... a high school band that bangs out these originals effortlessly.... ric, definitely room for tightening... most of the recording sessions are one-shot takes on songs that they wrote in the last month or so... I'm not sure if I can rectify the muffled...

    "walking on a mine" master

great tune... great production... very Styx, with a little Squeeze thrown in? Flange on the solo was nicely done too. Queue

    "The Passing"

This is a cool song. Thanks for posting the lyrics. Could only listen in cans, all was well with the mix in my cans, if something jumps out on the monitors, I'll let you know. If you are going to retrack those flat spots, the 4 most offensive spots were "slowly" and the first "unholy" both...

hey WATYF.... If yer trying to pad yer post count why don't you go post a few words on my thread (instead of reviewing it here...) and save the damn thing from the depths of page two...? ;) Queue

Is my PC too old for Multitrak Recording?

a good trick for mixing on a tired, old pc... When you get a track sounding the way you like it (FX wise), "Paint" out a processed version of the track. In Vegas it is called "render to new track". Even better, if you can bounce a number of tracks down to 1 or 2, say once you get your drum...

Am I afraid of my mic?

did you see this? Found this little guide on the AT site, looks pretty good. http://www.audiotechnica.com/using/mphones/guide/index.html

Am I afraid of my mic?

With a popper stopper in place you shouldn't worry about hurting the mic (148 dB max SPL WOW!). Singing very close to a cardioid pattern mic (which the AT3035 is) will produce more lows (via the "proximity effect"). Depending on your voice, and the sound you're looking for, that may/may not be...

Well... here goes nuthin... :p My first submission.

WATYF - Chris is right on your vocal abilities, who ya kiddin? Sure some of those "Waaaait"s into the chorus sound a little strained, but nothing a couple more takes wouldn't cure. This "rough demo" is better than some fully worked songs I've heard here. There's some spots where the guits...

Having a hard time with this one...

I'm mostly just the engineer on this one... doing a little 'help' in the production. This is a high school age trio my bro and I recorded in bro's basement. I did the mix. There was another thread in here a while back with more info... info on this thread: Evaluate Queue's Mix of High...

Well, who's ready to tell me how wrong I did this? :D

Chris, great energy going here! Queue's de-mudding suggestions... (unfortunately might involve some re-tracking/re-working) listen to the solo/interlude sections where the guitars are doing different things. less mud? Yes! things to try: -write a different part for the 2nd guitar. -only...
