Anyone seen all those Behringer MX-8000s and 9000s going on ebay ? On the German eBay there's like two dozen going for prices between 500 and 700 $ ! Tells me enough... Herwig

How many people mixing in parallel rooms without bass traps

Man ... my room is almost SQUARE (!) with a bookcase (diffusor) in the back of it ... Added a 'broadband absorber' (put up rockwool in the corners, floor to ceiling -> €50) and it helped.. echo gone, bass audible.. there's still problems, but I'm halfway there. Herwig

    keyboard, video, mouse extensions

There's extension boxes that run your KVM over Cat5 network cable.. I think BlackBox makes 'em amongst others. Expensive though - +500$ Herwig

SVT II Pro - need better, more powerful head!

I know what moelar2 is talking about.. An Ampeg is loud and brute, with lots of low-mid, while an SWR amp is clean, with sub-bass and highs for ages.. Maybe the trade wasn't such a good idea anyway ?? I personally still find my SM-400s one of the best amps I played on, but you might try Eden...

    Musicman Stingray or Fender Deluxe?

What foo said: some Fenders are better than others, MusicMan is a more stable product. + 'my' humble opinion: I had a Fender Mexico (active five string type) and the electronics where kind of wack. No headroom, the pickups distorted very quickly. The Stingray on the other hand ... headroom...

How Much ram is everyone using?

Switched from 1Gb DDR @266 to 1Gb DDR @333 (and from Athlon 2,200+ to a 2,600+) The difference is not immediately noticeable but it's there, I notice it on heavy projects = lots of plugins and VSTi's... Herwig.

    problem assembling a new PC

Emeric: memtest86 - the bootCD with the memory burn-in tested OK, it's the first thing I run when a pc is assembled. pyssdogg: messages like: 'file xxxxxxxx.xxx failed to copy', 'cannot read xxxx.CAB file', etc... problem assembling a new PC

Hi y'all, I'm having this problem assembling a new PC for a friend. It's about identical to my setup with a few minor changes: Asus A7N8X-X motherboard, AMD Athlon XP2,600+ (333FSB) cpu Infineon 512Mb (I have two of these, he has one) WD 80Gb harddisk (diff in mine) Samsung 48/24/48 CD-RW some...

    Via chipset

My twp cents worth: used 3 different AMD boards for my DAW up to now and never had any problems that weren't my own fault. Asus A7M266 (amd 761 chipset) Soltek DRV-4 (via KT-266 chipset) Asus A7N8X-X (nForce2 chipset, current setup) used audio hardware: ST-Audio. rock solid. Herwig

POD Bass: Ever Use It Live?

It seems more and more musicians stop taking amplification to gigs... I myself tried playing off monitors, but that just plainly sucks as a bass player. I *NEED* sub-bass and air movement to play comfortably. (I'm not talking high volume levels but a little 'rumble' is needed) Now for short...

    Wanted: Routing Ideas

Yes, it does, but what Tonio is trying to say is: you can hook your phones amp to each AUX output, so that you have individual phone mixes (up to 4) for your musicians.. Herwig

    Wanted: Routing Ideas

The mackie8buss is an inline monitoring console, right ? You have per channel a mic in, a line in, an insert, a direct out and a tape return, right ? So why don't you hook the mics up, send that signal direct out to the recorder and send the signal from the recorder into the tape returns...

Yamaha O1V96 desk with Hammerfall HDSP 9652

I don't know the 01v(96) that well, but a close friend of me runs a studio off a 02R (old version) with 3 ADAT cards into a Hammerfall-SX setup, mixing on the board, recording to the computer. Works perfect, and if he'd put a little more time in it I bet he could use the 02R as controlsurface...

    Airflow Basics ?

Sorry, wasn't clear... I'll explain what I'm thinking of: I have this iso box for two computers. It's a reasonably good box, but I'm sure it can be done quieter and -most importantly- with better airflow inside the box. Right now there's just two mid-size pc towers inside a square MDF box...

    Airflow Basics ?

Hi y'all, would anyone know of a site that explains the basics of airflow (as in A/C, ducting,...) in plain dummy-english ? I've googled around but to no avail ... I'm rethinking my PC's iso box and I'd like better airflow management in it and I'd like some background information so that I...
