    Group Buy ACMP81 Clips...........

Glad to see my ears aren't too bad! I liked (as in my previous post) the 81 overdriven best, then the not overdriven 81 2nd best. It's funny because I'm always saying that ITB bouncing sounds fine, and I do think it was very close. But the 81 did give a little something nice...

    Group Buy ACMP81 Clips...........

Hard to hear huge differences in my phones, but I like #3 the best, then probably #1, then #4, then #2. #3 seems to have a more rounded midrange, and just be a little meatier. Again, I'm listening on some Samson headphones, and haven't had time to listen to the entire clip all the way through...

    Group Buy Interest?

Nice work! Now I'm starting to get anxious, too! (I really tried to forget that I got in on this, since I knew it'd be a while! But I can't help checking in now and again to see what's the latest. Sounds like not too much longer, if they clear customs in a reasonable amount of time!)

why mixer in recording studio (pardon my ignorance)

You don't NEED a mixer, your DAW will have one, and hopefully your interface will have zero-latency monitoring. But, a mixer can be nice to have, for things like headphone mixes, and when you need a bunch of extra preamps, for drums, etc. But mixers are not necessary. I have one that I use...

what monitors to buy for a 10 x 8 room

You might look into some used monitors, I have Event TR-5's that I like pretty well, as long as they're setup as super near field (like at arm's length.) You should also pickup a good pair of headphones and listen on them frequently, though not too loudly! They make a good way to check things...

    Group Buy Interest?

I'm pretty new to the GB, so apologies if this has been answered... Is there a reason that the preamps have internal power supplies? Wouldn't it be cheaper and better from a noise perspective to do an external supply, capable of powering maybe 8 units? I'm thinking I may mod mine to operate...

    Group Buy Interest?

I think there's a big difference between using a GB to buy something that a vendor sells under their own name directly from the factory, particularly if it's a design created by that vendor. In a situation where the GB is contracting with a manufacturer to build a unique design, I don't see how...

    Musician's Workshop Group Buy Instructions

ok, now the 'add a product' button works, but the other two don't. The Error Console says "Expected ':' but found '='. Declaration dropped. And it also says "Error in parsing value for property 'cursor'. Declaration dropped. Hope that helps!

    Musician's Workshop Group Buy Instructions

I registered today, but inside the user console, the 'add a product' button, 'edit profile' button and 'edit password' buttons don't work. I'm on mac os x, tried it in Firefox and Safari, but no luck. Any ideas?

FS: Yamaha GF 16/12 with Anvil Case $375

This is a really nice little mixer, unique in that it has 4 Group outs, 6 aux sends, and the stereo buss. The eq sounds good, the preamps are clean and quiet, typical Yamaha quality. 12 mono inputs with preamps, 2 stereo line inputs. The board is a few years old, I used it as the front end to my...

FS: Groove Tubes GT60 Tube Mic LDC

This is a great mic, but I have a whole locker full of LDCs, and I've got my eye on some other outboard ;-) Asking $350, this sells at Sweetwater for $629. I've used it a couple of times, but it's still in the box. I'll pay shipping in the USA.

FS: 50 ft 8 Channel Snake XLR, Stage Box

I recently upgraded to a larger snake, so I have this one for sale. It has an XLR fantail on one end, a steel stage box on the other. Perfect for use with any of the 8 channel firewire interfaces, 828, firepod, etc. I used it for tracking drums, primarily. Asking $50, $10 for shipping in the US.

Who's cheap gear do you trust the most?

Decent Behringer gear includes the ADA8000 A/D interface, and the 4 channel headphone amp. I had a multicom pro, but it did some nasty things to the sound. The one Behrry piece that you'll see in the occasional pro room is the Intelligate.

bottom of snare polarity flip question

I rarely flip polarity while recording. I can see doing it if you have limited inputs and are bussing the top and bottom mics together (as many engineers do on analogue tape, or when you have a full band to record, and limited inputs.) Also, keep in mind that putting very short delays on mics...
