Disagree again...
"I HIGHLY appreciate Ed's efforts with this thread. However, I do feel that some of you are overprotecting "the holy one". He's very capable of standing up for himself in an argument, I'm sure. Maybe some of the oldtimers/big time posters here should lighten up just a little?"...
Huh???
"And about squashing mixes in mastering: there's only a handful of people that can do extreme squashing (making the cd loud) and keep it sounding good and transparent. "
Completely disagree man. There are MANY mastering engineers who can do this both effectively, cleanly and...
To sum up: I love XP.
Just make sure you have a damn good firewall...
XP acts as a SERVER - disseminating info about you into the net.
I blocked it with my firewall...IMHO MS stepped over the line by writing in that functionality.
It is a great OS for audio however which is why I run it...
Damn Dennis...
..you have the BIG kahunas man!!
I'll read all about your beating a bit later...

Staying in balanced cables will reduce noise and give you a cleaner signal chain. As long as your equipment...
Maybe some day....

Thanks for the links to more drum samples...
Cool!

I don't really need it to be free but money is a bit tight so...:D
I'll check that out. In the end I'll buy what is easiest to use and sounds the best.
BTW...

I've been emailing them for a MONTH with NO replies!!
My last email I told...
Dennis...
Heck no man...
I realize you know better! :) I was being a bit facecious... ;)
I post there and I'm REALLY careful about what I say.:p
Those guys are the REAL mastering pros...

ps - Jason. No hard feelings man. I wouldn't post that there...really.
Well...
...It depends. A lot depends on what you want the instrument to sound like in the final mix...
A common practice as an example would be to roll off the really low frequencies in an electric guitar passage to "make room" for the true bass frequencies like the bass guitar and kick...
