i really like the drum work (particularly cymbals) and the clean guitar. i think, though, that this sort of song should have a hotter distortion on the guitars for the heavy parts... the guitar sounds sort of like 1976 joe perry playing 2001 metallica, know what i mean? the song itself is good...

Sample of POS band I just finished

most people seem to have problems with the drumming of this band, but i really felt that for this kind of music, the drummer went about things pretty well (the double-bass type stuff) the only thing that threw me off with the drums was the constant up and down tempo changes. i'm one that...

    cover song

i got the point... i assumed that being a newbie (with not many great reviews under my belt) that my opinions about mixes and things would be all that valuable to anyone. i wasn't sure how the etiquette of this sort of thing worked. i actually have listened to many of the songs posted here...

    cover song

www.nowhereradio.com/sop/singles check it out.. might be good for a laugh or two. it's the only song listed so i'm not gonna bother ruining the surprise by giving the name here.

an old one of mine for the reviewers

oh yeah, the drums are alesis... trusty old alsesis.. i think she's about to die though, but i've had her for over six years anyway... maybe it's time i start figuring out fruity loops.. a friend of mine has been trying to convince me to sample my drums for a while now..

an old one of mine for the reviewers

okay, the main problem is with the chorus then.. too hot, overdriven.. i can definately see that (curse you ultramaximizer!) here's a concept for some you to chew on for a while.. one of the very early four-track incarnations of this song went about the chorus in an entirely different way... it...

an old one of mine for the reviewers

hmmm... well, since this is my own song, i guess i will just make a list of what i think the good and pad points are... and maybe it will help to jumpstart a couple of other reviews good things: songwriting: lyrics explore aspects of a breakup and the emotional effects of which that most other...

an old one of mine for the reviewers

thanks a lot, guys... the compression on the verse vocals is something i wasn't so sure about myself and i can still undo that.. in the next couple of days, i hope to have another mix to let you guys in on...

oh.. i think i mustve forgotten to answer that part of the question... as far as "rolling off the lows" does that mean just generally EQ'ing them down? so that the guitars have a low end, just not the SAME low end as the bass? that's not something i really made a habit of doing, BUT i can't say...

well, i really don't do much to the track after it's mixed down... which i've been thinking lately might be a big part of my problem... my typical ritual for a fresh mix-down is: cut the ends off... so there's no empty space before and after the track... and then i run either waves...

thanks a lot, guys... for the welcome and the advice so far... this is EXACTLY what i had hoped to find here. in "if i should fall" i really felt that my vocals were weak, but admittadly, no one that i've played it for agreed with me... but i have to wonder about biased opinions when it's people...

as far as newest recordings... the very newest stuff is at the http://www.nowhereradio.com/sop site... but of the old stuff the newest one is "touch (featuring jayme evans)" and honestly, that one might be what i consider to be one of my best.. as far as writing and production... i think it...

well, that was the second or third song i recorded... and i had just discovered the magic of "volume maximizing" but unfortunately i overdid it quite a lot... totally levelling out everything.. bringing the quiet parts to the same volume as the loud parts... which gave the impression that the...

looking for reviews and advice www.mp3.com/erich i recorded an album over a period of about two years called "much - by erich arndt". i did all the instruments (if you consider a drum machine to be an instrument) and vocals (except one song, for which i brought in another vocalist) and i wrote...
