Yeah, you have it right. If you use the insert on the yamaha mg's, the signal you are sending is already EQed. To get the most accurate representation into your computer and you are multitracking on your computer, leave the EQ flat. There's no need to alter the signal with a crappy 3-band EQ...
Considering its a "crappy off brand" and that the pickups are active, it could just be that its a bad wiring job or just the pickup itself (especially if it's single coil). I would suggest taking it to your local music store to see what they suggest. I know you can get guitars rewired where I...
I think it sounds pretty good. Maybe raise the mids on the bass a little maybe to add some definition. What kind of effects are you using on the vocals? Sometimes they sound a little harsh. Maybe bring them to the front and warm them a little bit. The instruments sound good. Nice job.
I use Kristal and I checked it out again. Kristal is not the problem for latency issues. In Kristal, you use the latency of your soundcard meaning that when you click the little "e" next to the "Audio Output", it goes to your soundcard settings interface. When I used a Sounblaster Audigy II...
For grounding in a hollowbody wood guitar, I have no idea. Generally, the ground or shield connects to the negative terminal. Try checking the negative terminals in the guitar (this might mean taking some stuff apart). Hope this helps.
Go for the mixer->audiophile route because USB has latency issues. However, for the mixer, there are better mixers in your price range than the 1202. Try the Yamaha MG series. Hope this helps.
Try lightningmp3.com next time. It's a lot better than this. Especially since this site causes downloads to go at 1.25 KB/sec on my broadband connection. 16% done...84% more to go.
I'd stay away from the C2s. I bought a pair off music123.com and sent them back when I got them becuase someone else recommended the Joe Meek JM27s. Go for the Joe Meeks. You used to be able to get a pair off ebay for 75 but you can buy two separate for a little more...
Get the most powerful one you can afford at the moment. It will last you a good couple of years and you won't have to replace it in a year becuase it will be able to handle everything.
I wired up a 6'' old bookshelf speaker to a QTR cable and ran it into my Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. However, my signal is just not strong enough to produce a decent volume for recording. I think my old speaker is too stiff to capture decent waves. It was from the thrift shop so I guess I got what...
Seymour Duncan makes great pickups. I currently have an SH-4 in the bridge and an SH-2 in the neck. THe SH-4 is a Seymoure standard and the SH-2 is a great jazz pickup, really warm and mellow tones.
I really like the song, pretty catchy. Are the vocals supposed to sound like that kind of radio quality sound? They sound really good if you are going for that effect. For the guitars, (this is stylelistic) but I would try cleaning them up a lot to sorta of warm hollowbody feel with...
At a local cafe in my town you cannot play covers of any band. The cafe is a sort of charity non-profit organization so I guess they don't want to mess with any copyright stuff.
