So if you have two speakers with the same ohm rating (or is it ohmage?) then the overall ohms would half?
From there your overall ohms need to match the amp?
I've been toying with the idea of building a speaker cabinet for a guitar amp. I've got a lot of little hifi speakers lying around to experiment with before I go for the anything serious, but I'm confused by wiring, impedance and how it'll all look.
Basically, here's what I'd like to do...
Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a laptop, with it's prime use being home recording (or more accurate portable recording).
I've got my heart set on a laptop, and have got a fair idea on specs, but the Processor is the one thing I'm not too sure about.
I'll be plugging in my FP10 (so I'll need a...
I've recently started a new band (I'm the drummer hence the newb post) and we're going to be doing Ska Punk. I'm playing around with my amp modelling software, trying to get the best clean ska punk tone so I can give my guitarist (also a newb, well to the genre ne way) some advice.
So, lets...
Right, I'm thinking of buying a new computer, well just the tower. My set up for recording is A Presonus FP10 into Cubase SX3.
I don't have too much problem at the moment, but I can feel my current computer having trouble when you start adding in masses of guitar tracks and a bass track. It...
As everyone's said, turning down is the key. If possible I'd reccommend going into a rehearsal space at least once, to hear what you'll sound like in a bigger space.
I remember my first proper bands first proper gig. We'd been practicing in loads of different spaces, and we knew we were ready...
For me, gigging is the best thing in the world. Nothing beats the feeling you get mid song when you look out at the crowd and they are enjoying it as much as you are, it makes you enjoy it even more.
I'm currently trying to get a band together and get ready to gig, because I haven't gigged...
Another question. How much do the audio files themselves effect the processor, because at the moment I'm using Amplitude 2 to simulate amps, as I can't afford a guitar amp til after xmas.
If I was recording real guitar, with 2 mics, would that cause a similar problem, or is it the plugins that...
I own a PDP CX kit, and I think it's fantastic. With decent heads it tunes up nice. The only thing that wasn't great was the snare, it just never sounded as good as the rest of the kit.
I think this may be more computer based than recording based, but hopefully someone can help.
I've noticed that after recording so many tracks on cubase, editing them, and using VST plugins, the song begins to click, pop and distort on play back. Each track indiviually is totally fine, but...
I just watched that guitar tone vid from imperial mastering, and I've got a couple of questions. The last few examples are two guitar tracks one panned right, the other left, each using a two mic setup. Would the the two mics for each recording be stacked, or would they be panned slightly...
Man I wish I hadn't read this thread, well not the thread, the essay about EQing and Power Attenuators.
I thought I'd mess about with an eq pedal in the amp modeling software on my comp, to see how it affects things in theory, rather than just going out and buying one. It seemed to sound...
I hate to hijack the thread slightly, but regading the 4 tracking of guitars, could you copy and paste the one track four times, or will that not give the desired effect.
I've been playing with ideas on getting a nice thick guitar sound for the punk songs I record, and I'm just wondering if I...
Thanks for all the advice guys, it's really helped.
I had a look on the crate website, and the fw65 caught my eye. It seems to have good reviews, so I may give it a test run.
A further question:
For my fellow UK members, can anyone reccommend a good shop for amps in the...
I tend to tune my kit to whatever sounds good to me, of course making sure that my toms don't sound the same. I then dampen them with aquarian o-rings.
My kit has pinstripes on top and ambassadors (i think) on bottom. I'm currently using my dads new kit, a mapex voyager (i think) which has an...
Right, I've got a song, and during one part of it I want one of my tracks to gradually pan from left to right a few times (like it's bouncing between the speakers, but slowly), but I can't figure out how to go about doing it.
Can anyone solve my problems?
I was just browsing a thomann catalogue and noticed they had an epiphone triggerman guitar head and speaker for £267. Anyone know if it's any good as an amp?
Well long term I'm looking for a good all rounder. It's more important that it sounds good when recording than live. My grand scheme to have a decent recording set up is my main aim, and the guitar amp is one of the key things I am now without. It's safe to say that I'll always be playing...
