Need Info On Copy Protecting My Songs:

If it were possible, with something as cheap as CoolEdit, don't you think that every major label on the planet would have been doing it for years?

Sorry for the spelling of quantitization above... Good point, Spin :D

Entering the realm of drum programming...

Well, FruityLoops seems rather heterosexual to me (not that I'd care if it wasn't). But our friend Seifer is a bit confused- FruityLoops IS any sequencer with midi capabilities- just like Cubase or Logic. If you load up BFD, it's gonna sound the same in Cubase, Logic, Sonar, Digital Performer...

    Are VST'S better than Hardware?

They're not- but they are cheaper or free. They don't have any of the problems or upkeep of analog machines. They can import virtually any sample format. They don't take up ANY space. They come shipped with TONS of presets, and require little or no programming knowledge. If you're not a pianist...

    damn drum loops

You could try that, but I'd just hard limit it, or even try to find a good compression setting. What loops have you got?

    Drum track creation advice needed

You can actually use FL Studio as a VST instrument in Cubase. But a VST sampler like Battery or Kontakt will do the same thing. If you're already used to Cubase, and you're satisfied with it, FL is kind of a redundant purchase. Grab a soft sampler (or a hardware one, and sequence via Cubase) and...

    Valve/tube Effect For Vocals

Steinberg Magneto PSP Vintage Warmer PSP MixPack Digital Fishphones- download all of these, they're free, and the compressor and distortion will help. I have some more free VST effects that I've collected over the years, that might help if used right. I can email them to you if you'd like...

    Triton on CD???

Those sample cds (which are probably illegal) aren't gonna cut it, if you really want the versatility of the real machines. Most software packages do midi, and most can use virtual samplers. Check out Project 5, FruityLoops, or Musys. Keep doing your research, and if it seems too good to be...

    12-bit samplers vs NI Kontakt?!?

If you're sampling your own sounds, just sample them at 12-bit, and 22khz, which I think is probably more important. Then you can arrange your hits in Kontakt, etc. If you're using sample cds, then you could try Kontakt's downsampling, or downsample in an audio editor, like CoolEdit or Wavelab...

Open the loop in Edit view... Does the visualization have huge spikes in it, but most of the information is much quieter?

    Filter Boxes?!?

I think the Sherman Filterbank is kind of harsh with its sweeps. The Mutator is pretty pleasant, but I haven't worked with it extensively. I have a Electrix Filter Factory, which works perfectly for my needs. I got it for $90 when guitar center blew out all the Electrix products 3 years ago...

    Spring Reverb

Wow, ask and you shall receive. Thanks to all who've provided tips and ideas. I've plenty of info now, and will continue my search. I've seen the Pioneer 202, but not the 101. Is one solid state and the other tube? Thanks again. -Chris

    You sexy thing

On the congas, it's most definately a filter. It might be a lowpass filter with a pretty high resonance (Q) setting, or it may be a band pass sweeping up.

    Sing through EHX Memory Man...

You might try something like the Reamp box, or a D.I. box that can convert a signal from +4 to -10. Or you could plug a mic into a mixer, then reduce the level to somewhere around -10, or a level the memory man can handle. Then, you'll need to boast the signal back with another DI or Pre-amp. A...

    Spring Reverb

Thanks for the replies. Chess- I've been checking out Ebay, as well as Harmony-Central and other classifieds. But in searching for "spring reverb" I get about 500 guitar amps to 1 dedicated reverb unit. Thanks for the Orman tip. I've also found an old Furman unit that looks interesting, and...

    software to tap out beats

"Tap Out" like you would on an MPC? If you just need to assign a sample to a key, why not just use a midi keyboard and your softsampler of choice. FL will do fine
