Yes, you heard me right. We were in the studio yesterday and the engineer connected the Motif 6 to his system. All he had connected was a pair of 1/4 and 2 MIDI cables. The Motif was slaved to Cubase VST/32. He recorded an audio track and a MIDI track. Afterwards he exploded the Midi track and...
Besides Cubase, what other programs can take a stereo audio signal control levels and seperate the track using MIDI. I have seen in done in Cubase VST/32 using midi explode, but we have run into too many clock problems using Cubase.
I can't get HS02 to work on my PC. Everytime I start the program up try to work on a project, it freezes and reads "Program not responding". This seems odd because I have played with the Sonar demo, CEP2 demo, and Reason2 on this PC. Anyone else experience this?
PC specs are:
AMD Athlon XP 1600...
I have used the Soundtracs Topaz 32x8. It has a warm sound but it is noisy, and the channels tend to bleed over.
Your list seems OK but there are other alternatives in the price range you stated. If was looking to get a small mixer, I would probably look at the Soundcraft Spirit M-8 (under...
fostex? boooooooooooo...boooooooooooooo
I wouldn't dare pick a fostex workstation over a Tascam or Korg. The Fostex is a 16-bit unit. Converters aren't that hot either.
The Tascam is 24-bit, but 8 tracks. Sounds good though.
I don't really know about the D-12, but I've heard the 1600. Its...
To clarify my statement, I have been using Tascam products for the last couple of years. They do make some descent products, but their mixers (excluding the DM24) are shitty. If you don't believe me visit their site.
Even if money is your major deciding factor, don't sacrifice your sound quality by going Tascam or Behringer (speaking from experience here).
You would be better off with a reputable used mixer.
if you are selling your tracks, make sure you and the buyer have a written agreement for up-front money, production royalties, and publishing percentage . If you don't know what I am talking about, you'd better research these subjects before selling anything.
be your own label
If you have some songs that have been mixed down and mastered, the next thing to do would be for you to take about a grand or so and send your songs off to a pressing plant. For that amount you should be able to get your artwork and 500 to 1000 CDs burnt up. Then you push...
Anyone using the Edirol Spdif to USB connector? If so, express your thoughts.
The reason for this post is that I am attempting to connect an all-in-one DAW to a PC for editing/ mastering and I'm cheap.
A 24 channel, 24 bit recorder would fit your needs perfect. But if a 24 channel recorder is out of your budget, there are options. You can look around for used 16 track recorders (fostex d-160 & Akai DR-16 come to mind for the budget-minded). Rackmount seems to be the most reasonable path if you...
