I read a recent thread on the B1/B3 shck. mt. clip and after using my new C4's last night this reminded me....
How could you sell something that doesnt work? not even kinda work.....not even close to a tight fit??
The mics sounded really good....really good...
The mic clips/shck mt. were a...
You could go w/ a drum package.....or you could go w/ some budget "workhorses"
2 SP B1's...OH's
1 SM57 on snare
maybe another 57 on kick...
B1's and 57's are around 80 bucks each....give or take a couple...
the good thing about going this route is that your getting some mics that are very...
I'm really not the one who plays...I'll play drums for a quick jam or something...basicly I play the gitar/bass primarily and work the console.......anyways...My drummer put some elect. tape over some paper towels..taped it to the head.....fixed a little....I tried messing w/ the kick mic...
In the "combo" amps I've played through above...w/ the exception of the Ampeg....which I bet is killer...I think the SWR Working mans series are great....
maybe because Levon Helm...unlike Robbie/Garth/Rick/ and Richard was not from Canada.....good to see a fellow fan!!!
My damn floor tom vibrates when the kick is "hit"...doesn't sound too good w/ a bottom head.....looking for feedback to see if a bottom head would stop the drum from resonating...
Hey cello john....
I have the 2480...I have very little outboard gear....besides my 2480 but w/ reading forums etc...
I think the way the 2480 experts do it (I could be wrong..for I'm still learning) is they have an outboard pre-amp..then send it to an A/D converter then back to the 2480 via...
I have the 2480....I'm very happy w/ it...
check out vsplanet.com
you'll find that very helpfull...
I know you are going to find the vga output HUGE.....I can't imagine not having it and looking @ a tiny screen.....
I'm no expert....
I just bought (for the kick) a Shure beta 52...before this I was using a 57 (even tried a 58) and I can tell you I'm happy w/ my investment...I've only heard good things about the 112 as well
as for everything else...I use 57's on toms and snare...I can't comment on this...
I don't think the best sounding always has to be the crispiest or the brightest.....
Listen to Levon Helms sound in Big Pink or the brown album....
I do think the dyer' maker snare sound stands out....
I just got my 2480CD...I am totally impressed w/ the efx...It comes stock w/ one VS8f-2 card....
I think in April sometime the new VSf-3 card is coming out and it is gonna be huge for us VS owners...
I'm still learning my 2480 unit (I probably will be for quite some time for it is truely...
I'm having a tough time setting up my mics and monitoring the levels because the drums are in a room 10' away and shutting the door and putting blankets on the wall isn't solving the problem...would getting a 100' snake and running it to my detached garage and setting the drums up there...
I've had some great shows w/ that bass........I won't argue that it is a POS...but I can tell you playing and learning on that fretless has been probably the best "ear instruction" I think I will ever get......
Growing up I was always the "really good" guitar player, but the other guys played...
Hey....theres gotta be some people who like the C1000...but who knows....
anyways..... I guess I'll learn from my mistakes....
..BTW....When this band I was in recorded a few songs @ this dudes studio...he raved about the C1000....he used it as an overhead for the drums and I think to record...
3 years of reading// and suffering w/ my 4-track...I made some killer recordings but I can now afford (Credit is a wonderful thing) to step up to digital....
I was considering the 4416 but I felt more comfortable w/ the 2480CD....
I concentrated on playing the guitar...discipline w/ playing...
Ethan....
Wow...
I'm @ work...and I've been reading the acoustics FAQ for the last hour....
mind emailing my boss and asking him if I can go home for the day and work on "tweaking" the acoustics in my studio....
Very, Very informative....Lots of experimentation to do....
BTW...New Milford...
I live in a log home....the room where I have my monitors/VS setup is about 10 * 13 w/ knotty pine ceilings and walls...and one wall is actual log,and a wood floor....
I'm thinking of putting up some blankets on the walls for it seems like a reverb chamber...
Any recommendations?
Don't get me wrong....everyones lists are great , the Neil Peart, the John Bohnam, Keith Moon etc...(don't agree w/ Dave Grohl as one of the alltime bests ...good drummer but c'mon
L E V O N H E L M........the best!!!
