    Oh The Moral Implications,..

WTF? Either everything is a Zebra or nothing is a Zebra. Makes about as much sense. I'm not posturing as an enlightened know-it-all. Just the opposite. If you read through the thread you'll see me say that I had an oppinion and someone made a really great point, and now I'm unsure of my...

    Oh The Moral Implications,..

It's less about the circumstances, IMHO, and more about intent. This is an argument/tactic that says "I'm afraid to commit, to draw a line." No, a baby isn't an artist. Again, it's about intent and skill. My daughter draws pictures that are beautiful (for her age) and show a lovely view of the...

    Oh The Moral Implications,..

Greg, the grown ups are having a discussion go play. KC, I didn't think you were trying to argue. I'm just saying your point was valid and is making me rethink my position.

    Oh The Moral Implications,..

That's a really good point. I don't know that I would have ever called a ballerina an artist. Though I do consider actors to be artists, so I don't know. DAMN IT!!!! Now I have to reconsider everything I thought that I thought about art. That's kind of where I stood until KC went and fucked it...

    Oh The Moral Implications,..

There is art in a good performance. But the idea that someone who walks into a studio, records just the vocals to a song they didn't write, and walks away is a musical artist is insane to me.

Finally Recovered and getting new gear

Thanks man. I've seen most of them but there are one or two new ones. What I meant was that MOST of the demos are just video camera mics. I think I'm going to do a decent recording of a few settings (when I get it all) and put them up. I'm pretty stoked!!!

    Oh The Moral Implications,..

I don't. I think today it's a very legitimate conversation to have, if only with oneself. But this is what we see all the time. "Justin Beaber is a promising young artist." NO!!! Justin Beiber is a promising young PERFORMER. He created nothing. Now. In my opinion; it's a grey area. All of...

    MultiMix 8 USB question

The manual and info online are not clear on this. Before I buy I'd like to know . . . When audio is being run INTO the mixer via USB, can you opt to not have it run through the mains? FOr instance, if I'm recording and I'm listening to my tracks on the computer do they automatically get put...

Finally Recovered and getting new gear

It is a decent amount of gear, true. But I was blessed with a sizeable return and I am paying off several bills, starting a large savings account, and donating to some causes. The "holy grail" thing was funny! I will. I'm excited about that since there are surprisingly few good audio demos of...

Finally Recovered and getting new gear

As some of you know; I had to sell my guitar rig in order to keep my family afloat financially. We filed our taxes and after starting a sizeable savings account and doing some other family-oriented stuff I will be getting a bigger/better rig. I'm so excited I want to share what I'll be doing...

    printing effects to tape.

My recollection of the 388 is not great. But, you should be able to assign the fx returns to whatever buss you want to record to. So, lets say you are bouncing down tracks to tracks 7/8. you can assign your FX returns to buss 7/8. I think the 388 calls busses PGRMs. but it's the same. I hope...

    Take or leave this deal?

alas, the guy has not gotten back to me. And even if he did, we haven't the room for the 388 on the trip home. so all of this was for naught. Thanks any way.

    Take or leave this deal?

The 388 is sort of my dream machine. I've wanted one ever since I knew what they were. So, yeah, a $50 part deck . . . easy. But, yeah, I was thinking maybe a broken belt, or even a blown fuse. So, I think if I can make the room and mama says ok, then I will get it. I'm pretty stoked. Maybe.

    Take or leave this deal?

true. does anyone know how the mixer on the 388 would work with other gear? Does it play well with others?

    Take or leave this deal?

I am back needing your input. This would be a gamble and I"m not even sure I'll room on my return trip for this beast, but . . . I found on CL this add for a 388 "Tascam 388- 1/4 inch 8 track reel to reel. The mixer works, but the reel to reel recorder isn't working. It was one day and then not...

    Best recording mics for $100-$200??

YOu might also consider a decent ribbon mic. You won't need phantom power and they are versatile. I don't have one yet because I'm building funds to buy all my studio stuff in one go. But I've read really great things about the Fathead from Cascade. Just a thought.

    duble input amp (Vox AC15C1)

BTW, I just noticed I mis-spelled "double" in the title. I officially feel like an idiot.:drunk:

    duble input amp (Vox AC15C1)

The new incarnation of the AC15 has "two channels" but they are selectable by a double input. They have no toggle switch to move between them. If I were to run an A/B switch with cables running to both inputs, would switching between them work? Or would this screw up the circuitry somehow? I...
