Thanks everyone. It sounds pretty decent to me so I'm happy. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off. Two of you mentioned minor differences. Just curious, what are the differences ?

    AT4033a, AT4033cl. Same mic ?

I just bought a "new" AT4033CL" on ebay. The box and everything else says AT4033CL but printed on the mic is 4033a. Seems shady to me. Can you tell me just what this difference is? Thanks.

Ribbon or SM7 for smooth vocals

I'll been reading plenty of praise on this forum about the many affordable ribbon mic's now available. The Shure SM7 seems to get it's share of praise as well. Both seem to be described using the same words.Warm.smooth.clear.In very general terms would it be fair to say that the SM7 has a ribbon...

    SM7 users, please comment!

I think the SM58 makes my voice too thick. Do you think this would be the same with the SM7?

    Question about a USB microphone.

If I was in your shoes I'd buy a small inexpensive mixer ($30-$50)an run it to your computers line in on the sound card and download a free recording program,I've heard of a bunch of different kinds.I'd probably buy a a pair of Naiant MSH10 ($44 a pair). That should get you off and running (and...

Best all purpose condenser combo under $300

+1 on the Naiant msh10's I'm no pro just someone who knows what sound they want. I prefer the msh10 on my acoustic guitar over my sm57,sm58,Rode nt3, mxl 990/901 or any other mics I own. I know it's hard to believe for $44 a pair they sound good but the sound very, very good. A must have. I hope...

    Final CD and bit/sample rates?

Lots of good info everyone, thank you so much. I'm going to start looking more seriously into my options for 24bit . I'd imagine the easiest upgrade is my soundcard but I have other things to weigh, but that's another thread. I'm sure you'll herar from me again.

    Final CD and bit/sample rates?

So if I'm recording primairly vocal and acoustic guitar with alot of soft/hard passages the general thoughts are that it would be worth my while to upgrade to 24 bit?

    Final CD and bit/sample rates?

This makes me think I may be better of just recording in 16/44.1. The recording end of music seems much harder for me than playing it. I
