Problem solved.... Needed to tweak between the buffers in Sonar and the DMA and ASIO settings in the control panel..... everything is crystal clear now. Also was able to try out the WDM drivers in the Sonar softsynths using Edirol VSC plugin......they work slicker than snot...... This Terratec...

To show what a moron I am, I have to reply.... First off, thanks for your help Jaymz..... Had you not mentioned Edirol VSC, I'd have been at a total loss. I didn't realize that the WDM driver doesn't kick in until you use the softsynth plugin:rolleyes: So that's why I wasn't able to achieve...

Yes, the card has WDM and ASIO 2. Latency is pretty much unacceptable at this point when using midi though. Maybe time to upgrade my mobo and cpu..... kt7-1.2ghz athalon.

hey, thanks again for your response. I guess I keep thinking "If I buy this terratec, am I really just buying another Audigy 2 , with a different name on it?" Specification wise, it sure seems to be a good card. As good as the Audiophile at any rate.

Does it have USB ports? I think some people do it that way instead. If you were planning on using that laptop for recording, why didn't you check out the inputs beforehand? Just curious. There seems to be alot of knowledgeable people around here, I'm sure someone has laptop experience. Sorry...
