How should I be hooking up my SP5b monitors?

I have a Terratec DMX 6Fire and the M-Audio sp5b's The Terratec has the standard 1/8" output on the back, but also has seperate left and right line out on the breakout box. The SP5b's have both balanced/unbalanced 1/4" inputs and XLR inputs. What way would be best to hook these up and what...

Big problems with my terratec 6fire

Problem solved.... Needed to tweak between the buffers in Sonar and the DMA and ASIO settings in the control panel..... everything is crystal clear now. Also was able to try out the WDM drivers in the Sonar softsynths using Edirol VSC plugin......they work slicker than snot...... This Terratec...

midi latency in sonar question (Jaymz?)

To show what a moron I am, I have to reply.... First off, thanks for your help Jaymz..... Had you not mentioned Edirol VSC, I'd have been at a total loss. I didn't realize that the WDM driver doesn't kick in until you use the softsynth plugin:rolleyes: So that's why I wasn't able to achieve...

midi latency in sonar question (Jaymz?)

Yes, the card has WDM and ASIO 2. Latency is pretty much unacceptable at this point when using midi though. Maybe time to upgrade my mobo and cpu..... kt7-1.2ghz athalon.

Big problems with my terratec 6fire

:) Hey thanks for the reply. I should've mentioned, I'm running my strat into a Digitech Genesis and then into the soundcard...... so amplification isn't really an issue. I was able to tweak the ASIO/buffer settings to a manageable level, so it helped alot, but for some reason, when I run...

midi latency in sonar question (Jaymz?)

I just purchased a terratec 6fire audio card. It has midi plugs on the front of the breakout box. I'm using an Oxygen 8 controller to trigger soft synths in Sonar. The Oxygen 8 is set up to plug into the USB port or standard midi plug in. I used to use an Audigy 2 (sold it) for midi and it...

    Help! What to get?

My Terratec DMX 6Fire should be here any day now. I was torn between the Audiphile 2496 and the Terratec, but decided on the Terratec due to connectivity issues Looking forward to giving a glowing review when it's all set up.

I think theres something going on.....

Well, not that these were "the" top of line cards, but both the Echo Mia and the Terratec DMX 6fire LT have been, according to some web sites, discontinued. Guitar Center had the Mia for $99.00 as of a couple weeks ago. Both Guitar Center's in my area have sold out though and now only offer...

I think theres something going on.....

Ya know, I get the feeling these card manufacturers are up to something..... all of the sudden some of the 24/96 low latency ASIO2 recording cards have dropped in price or been discontinued. Makes me think some "new" technology is forthcoming......

Audipphile 2496 or Terratec DMX 6

Well, that is something I had thought about doing, but I didn't want to mess with needing a seperate headphone amp and buying a bunch of adapters to make use of the balanced inputs. I ordered the 6fire LT this morning off of ZSounds, but I might call them back and move up the the standard 6fire...

Audipphile 2496 or Terratec DMX 6

O.K. This card is sounding more and more like a winner all the time. Do you have first hand experience with this card? Any idea about the transparency for recording purposes? Does it have a built in headphone amp so I don't have to buy anything outboard? I see em' sold for $99 on Zsounds...

Audipphile 2496 or Terratec DMX 6

hey, thanks again for your response. I guess I keep thinking "If I buy this terratec, am I really just buying another Audigy 2 , with a different name on it?" Specification wise, it sure seems to be a good card. As good as the Audiophile at any rate.

    Question: Please Help!

Does it have USB ports? I think some people do it that way instead. If you were planning on using that laptop for recording, why didn't you check out the inputs beforehand? Just curious. There seems to be alot of knowledgeable people around here, I'm sure someone has laptop experience. Sorry...
