    (dis) assembly question

BE CAREFUL ! When you unscrew the bottom ring the guts of the mic can just drop out if you are only holding the body and not the grille!

    Best DI Box

the BSS AR133 direct box which the Behringer D100 is VERY similar to in looks and features is a great DI. http://www.bss.co.uk/e_ar.htm Now that I think about it the BSS AR 416 Quad DI is also very similar to the Behringer Pro DI 4000 Quad DI.

    Direct X version ?

Yeah I know, that's why I'm asking. My philosophy has always been 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' and I've been running Win 98se and version 7 succesfully and without problems for a couple years, but now a lot of software is asking for version 8. I just wanted to find out which release of...

    Direct X version ?

When Direct X version 8 first came out there were all sorts of horror stories about it flying around, it basically didn't work well and couldn't be uninstalled. I haven't heard anything in a while and was just wondering if everyone was still using version 7, or if version 8 got fixed.

Instead of facing the monitor rotate slowly and listen until the noise is quietest. In my case if I point the headstock straight at the monitor the noise goes away.

    What's so bad about Behringer?

I always thought that a lot of so called 'Professional' DJ mixers sounded dreadful.

    Keyboard or drum machine

How software generates a click is to simply send out a midi signal, the reason that it comes out of your ordinary soundcard is that it has built in sounds whereas the Delta card doesn't. To get the click to come through the main monitors you may have to physically connect the Soundblaster's (or...

    Drum Dial

I don't know if it's the same thing but I am familiar with something called a Drum Torque that basically is a torque wrench for tuning lugs, it measures that each lug has the same tension on it. It's great for a quick 'ballpark' tuning, but since it basically measures how much force it takes to...

    To all of Behringer's apologists:

Yup, it also generates three different types of test tones and checks for phantom power.

    Confessions of a Behringer Apologist . . .

Unless of course the company that makes the board that you plan to buy goes out of business. (yes I know it's a Soundcraft and that isn't going to happen)

Left Handed Drummer & Stereo Field

Just remember that aside from the 'handedness' of the drummer there is also the preference of the mix engineer, some like 'audience perspective' panning and some use 'drummer perspective'.

    Buying a Compressor?

What he actually told you was that he didn't know what he was talking about, that you can't trust his gear recommendations, and that you should probably avoid a store that would employ a moron who would lie to your face for a sale.

    A simple, clear mixing question

If you bounce everything down to one track it will end up Mono since you will have no seperate left/right information. If you bounce everything down to one STEREO track it will stay stereo since you will actually have bounced down to 2 TRACKS.

What do you guy's do with your thumbs???

Do you mean a sharp ache in the muscle at the base of the thumb, the one that's kinda part of the palm of your hand and that you use to squeeze the neck? If so it's just muscle fatigue caused by a normal buildup of an acid that I can't remember the name of. Moving and flexing the muscle lets the...

    A simple, clear mixing question

I read a little of the other thread and it seems that you are a little confused about the term 'Track'. In the old analog days tape machines had a fixed number of 'tracks', 2, 8, 16, or 24 etc. each of these was MONO, there was no such thing as a stereo track, If you wanted to record in stereo...
