you need fans. if you have a large audience/following, radio stations will play you and record labels will pay you. tour. that's the most effective way of getting your name out there.

just let your work speak for itself, if you've had 10 other satisfied customers, then this 1 is NOTHING... seriously don't worry about it, ignore it, and don't get in a flame war. if your work is good and reasonably priced, feel good about yourself.

he did not 'invent' that style, not even remotely. that style is from the balkans and it's quite old. he wasn't the first to do it and most of his songs have no substance, which is hidden by the novelty of the arrangement.
