    Beautiful

Thanks so much clay and erichenryus! That's so cool you guys dig the vocals. Yeah, if anyone's got some tips on hw to do backing vocals let me know. I could never get them to sound right. The backing vocals on the chorus are doubled and panned, must be too low to tell. They came out too thick...

Thanks erichenryus and clay. The harmony's are definatley going to be mixed louder in the final production. i'm still learning how to mix them in so they sound right with out being too prevalent. They are pretty loud on my monitors. Maybe I need to compress them more? Do guys think the main...

    Beautiful

Lyrics I look at you, I know that you're no better, Under this mask, It's all you have, And all you ever will be, But when you breathe, I'll be there to give you air, And if you call me, I'll be the first one there, (chorus) The taste of your lips, Bitter with the sting of your tounge...

    Beautiful

Kramer: Thanks, this is the first time I've showed this song to anyone besides my band! I hope somebody didn't steal it! boydrj: Thanks as well, that funny about the chours, I didn't use a de-esser on the vocals there and the aren't as compressed. I kind of liked the change of tone but...

Hey, I wrote and recorded this tune in my bedroom and my band decided to redo it for real on our CD. Can anyone give me any tips on what I could do to make this song better or how it should be mixed differently on the CD? Maybe some suggestions lyric wise? Thanks...

    Akg C1000s Mics

I personally don't care for the C1000's. we use a couple as drum overheads and they've never sounded good no matter what we do. My studio projects C1 sounds much better as a drum overhead and I'm sure there are better mics out there for even cheaper. I second the vote for the MXL603.

Which came first, mic or pre?

Well I'm keeping my C1. I went down to GC Saturday and spent 4 hours ABing my C1 with every mic down there. The result, the Neumann TLM 103 is the only mic I tried worth upgrading to. If anyone is interested in my opinion on how th C1 stood up to the other mics, let me know and I'll post a...

Which came first, mic or pre?

Thanks guys for your input! The Bellari is on it's way back to GC. I really want to try the Joemeek but I called every dealer listed on their websight in Seattle and no one has the MQ3. If I orderd it I would lose the return policy as it's not a regular item on anyone inventory. There's one...

Which came first, mic or pre?

Yeah, It's bullsh*t that you can't return mics at GC due to "health risks". The salesman there was sure concerned about "health risks" when he sat the mic down on it's top on the floor. I was just looking at it going WTF...? I'm almost sure that pre's not the winner. I bought it with 99%...

Which came first, mic or pre?

Thanks for the reply. When I tried the mic preamp combo at GC I was monitoring through a pair of sony headphones. I've got the same pair at home. It's gotta be the mic. I'm taking my C1 down to GC this weekend to be 100% sure. The bellari is wierd... When I first got it home and plugged...

Which came first, mic or pre?

Ok, I know this has been hashed over way too many times but I have to ask again. Maybe if you're bored enough you can read through my sob story... So I was down at GC the other day, seeing if the could order a joemeek MQ3 so I could try it out my vocals. I can't find one in town and I'm NOT...

    Crappy Overheads

Hey, My drummer just got done recording his drums for our CD and so far we got a killer drum sound, much better then we've ever gotten before... only problem is our cymbol sounds are kinda cheap. We used 3 ovehead mics, a SP C1 and 2 AKG C1000s. I know the C1000s are the problem but we had...

    Drum reverb

Cool! The snare tail I've got now I took the early reflections out and just left the verb in. It really added to the snare sound(first time that's ever happened). I have yet to play around with the early reflections side of things and I haven't really got a good grasp on how to use it. On...

    Drum reverb

Thanks Track Rat, We've got a damn good sounding reveb for the snare, I'll try adding some of that in to the overheads. We've got all the toms miced individually and mixed down onto one track as well. I'm going to try adding a little to them. What are your thoughts on using two different...

    Drum reverb

My band is mixing down our CD(we do a hard rock type of thing) and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on how we should handle the reverb on the drums. We've got the drum tracks seperated into to 8 seperate wave files in cubase. We want the overall sound to be fairly dry in the mix...

    Tips for Recording Distorted Guitar?

We are in the process of recording our album and found that we couldn't really get an accurate representation of our amp until we had about 4 mics on it. We put 2 57s one on axis one off of 2 of the cones, one beta 58 with the coverscreen removed on another cone and my SP C1 about 2 feet back...

    Good sounding budget room

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I can make a room sound decent on a budget. Here's my situation. We've got a room about 9' by 15' in a basement. We want to set it up to record my band's rock album. We just recently obtained about 1700' of shag carpet with padding...

    Studio Projects C1 sound test

Hey guys, The guiitar is an Ibanez Artwood(good call Scriabin) AW100CE. I lied about the strings too. They are Elixirs but they are 12-53's.

    Studio Projects C1 sound test

Wow! I appreciate the kind words!!! Thank you! I'm not saying that the C1 is the best mic ever or that SP should put me on their payroll, I am just really happy that it worked for me. I was pretty frustrated when I was looking for a LD condenser and I had no idea where to start. Everyone...
