    Latency issues with 122!!!!!!!

I'll get a new windows version when I get a new computer. An OS is one thing I am not willing to pirate - could cause way to much problems if it was a hackjob of a file! PS: Anyone know the issue date for longhorn? Any time soon or long time from now?

    Latency issues with 122!!!!!!!

Win ME isn't a joke. It's actually quite serious. Anyhow - it turns out the virus was the cause. I have now gotten rid of the virus (took 6 hours to scan my hdd) and there i snow NO latency even on the lowest buffer settings. Phew - finally! screw the w32.pinfi virus!

    Latency issues with 122!!!!!!!

**************** I have tried the settings on the soundcard properties AND the two latency settings in cakewalk. I CANNOT get enough buffer to have a simple playback in cakewalk without skipping...... even my mp3s in the player (musicmatch) skip every once in a while. and I can't get it so...

Any tascam us-122 users had this issue?

There is a common error gotten in win ME when one adds new hardware, especially soundcards. it is an error with cmdninst.exe at start up that won't let you get past it to load windows! I had some earlier tascam problems and uninstalled all audio information to start from scratch. The drivers...

    tascam us 122 setup question

a pre amp takes the microphone level input and amps it up to a line level input. I assume the mic pre-amps on the tascam are automatic since I don't see a switch. the phantom power is used for condenser mics. See, condenser microphones have an amplifier actually inside them, but no power. The...

    tascam us 122 setup question

Aren't you talking about the phantom power? I'm talking about the mic pre - two different things.

Tracking down cause of Latency - Help!

    1. my tascam properties lists the "resolution" as 24 bit. Is this the same as the audio driver bit depth? because it was at 16 in HS2002. Or is resolution the same as "file bit depth" ?? which was also at 16.. 2. There are two settings regarding latency in hs2002. One is the "buffers in...

Tracking down cause of Latency - Help!

Ok I have isolated the issue. Let me explain because I am dying to fix this. The cakewalk track has a volume bar for incoming sound right. Ok, and my soundcard as a "direct input" which sends the info RIGHT as it hits the soundcard, straight to my moniters so it's in sync with my backtracks...

yes they'r eboth fine. I may have fixed the problem. the metronome sound fine but haven't gotten a chanc to check latency in the recording... Here is the change I made - in the options - audio section there is an option under the "mixing latency" tab that is called "buffer in playback queue"...

Tracking down cause of Latency - Help!

I think I may have solved it. I will have to record something to see the lag, but the metronome is now fine.

Tracking down cause of Latency - Help!

BTW - There is no longer a problem in fruity. The problem was fixed by setting the buffer to maximum. The cakewalk buffer is at highest - but still issues occuring. I am trying settings now.

Tracking down cause of Latency - Help!

PS: No other USB devices connected currently. PSS: I can't imagine it being a RAM problem when even a simple metronome can't play right! It's as if the soundcard has caused the audio ability of my computer to suck! Howeven, I should mention playing mp3's work absolutely fine. It's only...

Tracking down cause of Latency - Help!

Al - I meant that the same exact issue occurs in both programs. No I don't run them both at the same time. Here is what occurs - If I play a track, no matter how complex, or even just a metronome, instead of the metronome sounding like this: beep --- beep --- beep --- beep --- beep --- beep...

Tracking down cause of Latency - Help!

Ok - My entire set-up is identical to before, except now I am using a REAL soundcard (tascam us-122). I get latency when: 1. I simply play a track back in fruity loops AND in cakewalk. 2. I just play a simple metronome - latency! The metronome sounds almost random...... 3. I record, the...

    Latency issues with 122!!!!!!!

who the heck rated this a one, and didn't respond? PS: the latency is mostly a function of th elatency/buffer option. before I was using the same software, fruity and cakewalk, same everything except now new tascam 122. if I set the buffer high, the latency (occuring upon playback of even...

    Latency issues with 122!!!!!!!

Ok - so I've got some issues, lemme know what to do! 1. using home studio2002, when I'm playing back audio information (or recording over it) it is jumpy and skippy. But the CPU usage is at 1% at all times. I've got athlon 1.2 and 512 ram.. 2. the recording is not in sync with the previous...

GigaSampler free with card - what is it?

Thanks Meister (almost called you BM :)) I'll load up giga soon and check it out. Probably won't be actually using it for recordings for a while, and by then I plan on getting a fast as hell computer in perhaps 6 months or less.

    tascam us 122 setup question

Hey other 122 users. I think I got it figured out. Do you use the direct for hearing your sound live? I can toggle the initial sound with this, but only hear the "echo back" sound in microphone setup - which is good of course. SO is that how you guys hear the track as recording it? Also - do...
