    Reviews for Original Songs!

I like Midnite. Kind of strange and cool. You could develop this into something really unique. Score:6 Lady Heartreak is pretty raw, like a bunch of ideas that need to be organized and formed into something more concise. You have a bit of a style though in your off the wall approach, I wouldn't...

    need some constructive critisism

I'm listening on laptop speakers. I'm not sure about the balance between all the elements in both your songs. The drums kind of stick out over everything else, especially in the upper freq's. I'm not a fan of the overly clicky kick drum. The guitars sound good but need some spacial treatment...

    Kiss inspired Classic Rock

Thanks a lot everyone for listening and sharing your thoughts. It's great to have so many critical listeners to get feedback from. I really lose perspective after awhile, this really helps and gives me a shot in the arm as well. Danny and Tele... I was trying to keep the solo short and sweet...

One more for a Sunday..."Look Pa ....Da Suckers Are Runnin'!"

Inspired! Great road trip (or river trip) song. Nice playing.

Indie Classic Rock mix for critique.

I'm listening on laptop speakers and overall it sounds good. I agree with everyone else, the vocals are a little buried by the guitars. Great guitar playing and good sounds by the way. Reminds me of Jason Falkner a little bit.

    Kiss inspired Classic Rock

I would love some input from anyone about the mix on this song. You'll be able to hear obvious nods to "Rock and Roll Over" era Kiss, it's intentional. Hopefully they are not too overt, but if you think they are let me know. I tend to lose perspective on that kind of thing. It's called "Now or...

    Classic Rock, AC/DC homage.

Lurk-- thanks for the input. I played it back on my Dynaudio's at work today and it cleared some things up for me. My Alesis M1's at home always make me second guess low end. I think P-J has a point about playing harder though. Thank you too dwkman-- nice to hear it.

    Classic Rock, AC/DC homage.

P-J, thanks for the compliment and the advice. Boosting some low end on the guitars my do the trick, also they might be a little over compressed. As far as being reminiscent of TNT, well, that was kind of the idea. As long as it's not too blatant. Thanks, Jon

    Classic Rock, AC/DC homage.

I would really appreciate any feedback on this tune. I'm trying to channel AC/DC without the ability to sing like Bon Scott or play like Angus Young. It's called "Roll In Your Soul". http://www.esnips.com/doc/f85ae139-b40a-458a-af8f-e0e97f3ccad7/ROLL-IN-YOUR-SOUL Thanks, Jon

    It's been awhile... please review.

Killthepixel... I wonder if it's the accelerator. I just looked around esnips support page and didn't find anything about it but maybe you can try without it and see what happens. I just downloaded the song with no problem from a seperate computer at work. Thanks for trying. And thanks everyone...

    It's been awhile... please review.

Thanks for the input Monkey and Jas... the drums are the weakest link in my setup. They are from a Roland Fantom workstation keyboard. I'll probably be investing in a drum sample cd soon.

    It's been awhile... please review.

I love these thoughts... only fresh ears could hear that the guitar was stepping on the piano theme. Good one. The drums are a little difficult to fix since they are a stereo composite. I might play around with the brightness to minimize the cymbal and add a bit more verb to the overall drum...

Thanks Eck... I'll play around with the eq on the kick. Good suggestion. The mic is a Groove Tube AM52 through a Presonus Eureka preamp.

    It's been awhile... please review.

I haven't had anything to post in years, but I'm back at it and need some feedback. Let me know what you think of the balance and tone of things on "Begin Again" http://www.esnips.com/web/jjtmusic It's kind of a pop prog rock thingy. Also, I just signed up for this esnips site, I would love...

    Converting to MP3

Thanks Trickster. I just gave LAME a shot and am impressed. It converted to MP3 from 24bit 48k WAV without a hitch. Sound Forge couldn't do it.

    That did the trick. Thanks.

    Converting to MP3

I started using a TC Finalizer as a mastering compressor/limiter and I really like it alot. The problem that I'm having is when I go to convert the stereo mix (24bit 48k .wav) to mp3 in Sound Forge all kinds of strange noise gets added. I've never had this problem when I just did a bus mixdown...

    Pop song sort of...

Nice Great tune, great performance. I'm listening on headphones and I agree with what some of the others have said about the mix being too compressed. Also, the vocals seem a little harsh in the upper mids, could be the mp3 conversion though. This is the kind of song, inspired by and...

    Give a read please.

I like it. It might need a little honing, but as it is, it's pretty good. So many people post lyrics that are trying to describe an emotional feeling but without using metaphors and imagery like you have. Your lyrics are evocative and paint a picture in my mind. Good job. Jon
