    snare on yellow submarine

did anybody else notice the drummer who played with Sting, Dave Matthews, and Vince Gil on the Beatles tribute at the Grammies couldn't play the song! It's easy to just sit back and listen and think Ringo wasn't doing much. But trying to play like that and really locking in is another thing...

Mixing With Real Faders on PC ?

cool thanks jdier, Good work! My style is a lot more rock oriented than yours , but you got a good clean sound. So, you didn't use a mixer or anything? Just the Aardvark Q10 into your computer? Just curious, how much of the music was recorded live and how much of it was overdubbed? And how...

What (musical) direction should we take?

good work It's cool that you recorded such different versions of the same song. I'd be interested in knowing which one YOU like the best. Because after all it's your tune and ultimately you have to decide what musical direction you wanna take. I really like the acoustic version. Has sort of a...

    Snare side head

a possibility You might wanna check closely to make sure you don't have a rough edge on the snare itself or something that might be physically puncturing/cutting the head? I've been drumming for a LOOOONNGGG time, and I don't think I've ever broken a bottom head. Just an idea.

How 'bout this Hey Teej, I've been reading your nTrack expertise with great interest. Since I'm just starting out, I was thinking maybe you'd like to be my personal tutor, ya know, hang out at my house for about six months or so and get me started on the right foot! ha, ha, ha... Thanks...

MR8 might be the Holy Grail

Very cool little machine and easy to use! But, keep in mind that the MR8 comes with only a 128MB flash card. Not much space. You will have to mix down to some external device. Or you will need to transfer tracks to PC to work on any long songs or songs with a lot of tracks.

Claimed 6 channel recording with Audigy 2 Platinum

Actually, Dell was a unclear with specs too Or I just didn't know the right questions to ask. Once I read some glowing reveiws of the Audigy 2, I thought it would be worth the upgrade since I would be using the computer for sound applications, not realizing that the reviews I read were about a...

Claimed 6 channel recording with Audigy 2 Platinum

thanks for the response, dmbpettit No, I don't have the front plate. Probably means I can't do it, huh?? Please let me know if there's a way I can make this work. The more I reseach it, I'm afraid I "upgraded" for nothing. Sounds like Creative may have exaggerated the specs of the Audigy 2...

    fostex mr8 and software

Hi FIX, I'm wondering what kind of equipment you are accustomed to using for recording. What kind of set up do you have now? I agree with Ed that learning some of the basic software skills will be beneficial. But, from my own experience of being a computer novice and used to a four track...

    Audigy 2 recording capabilities ?

This is a follow-up to a question I asked in another post. I have an Audigy 2 soundcard and after reading this: http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=112222 I'm thinking maybe it has greater capabilities for recording than I was aware of. I know there aren't many...

    Creative Audigy 2 ZS.

Audigy 2 - more than one track simultaneously dmbpettit, you said "The audigy can record 24 bit, but you have to get the kx drivers. I don't believe it can with the creative drivers, at least mine hasn't been able to. With the kx you can actually record 3 stereo channels or 6 mono channels...

    Delta 66 or Omni Studio?

thanks again ! Actually, Bulls Hit, it was your suggestion a few days ago of going the mixer route that has me thinking in that direction. Thanks! Now it's just a question of deciding which mixer/soundcard combo is going to meet my needs. I would really like to have 8 simultaneous ins, but...

I still have so much to learn Sometimes I feel like I'm in algebra class and everybody else has got the answer and I'm still trying to figure out the equation! So, basically I need the number of "analog ins" to be greater than or equal to the number of simultaneous tracks I want to record...
