It's a Keyser capo in brand new condition. I don't think it's adjustable. Tuning seems fine when I tune after putting the capo on, so that's what I'll do. Thanks alot for the suggestions.
thanks apl!
The good news is my guitar has a built-in chromatic tuner so that's easy. It seems to solve the problem to simply tune after I place the capo. Cool!
But this is a curiosity to me.
I really don't use a capo very frequently, so I don't have a lot of experience, but I've never...
Hi,
I am having tuning problems when I use a capo on my acoustic guitar (an Ovation Legend).
I have checked the intonation of the open strings against the 12th fret harmonic and everything is in tune. The guitar is in perfect tune at 440 according to the electronic tuner.
Problem is, when I...
here's the thread with info about building your own pads:

Because of the review I found on Harmony Central (mentioned above) I'm thinking it MIGHT BE POSSIBLE to use the SR-16 as the brain, but I'm trying to confirm this and find...
maybe I found the answer
I found this quote about the Alesis SR-16 in an online user reveiw: "The SR-16 itself is both a drum synthesizer AND a sequencer in its own right and can work as a sound module if you want to feed it a stream with drum pads."
Is this correct??
The entire reveiw is...
link to wav mananger
You can get the wav manager here:
http://www.fostex.com/index.php?file=support/documents
It's very easy to transfer tracks to and from PC with this, but of course this means you will have to use your computer.
Mixing direct to a stand alone CD burner works well, but...
thanks for the suggestions...
So, basically a drum module and a drum machine are two seperate entities and cannot be used interchangeably?
The reason I'm asking is that I'm planning to buy a drum machine for use in some live performances, but I'd also like to make/use some triggered drums for...
Good question...
...I just asked the same thing in a different thread. Hope ya don't mind me jumping in here. I'm anxious to hear the answer to this one. Thanks.
wow, what a concept
Now I know what to do with my remo practice kit that's been gathering dust! Thanks so much for this idea and the links.
So, can somebody tell me if I could use a drum machine like the Alesis SR-16 as the sound module for a kit like this?
What are the technical...
thanks
I appreciate the feedback. It will probably be another month or so before I'm able to take the plunge. So, I'm certainly interested in continuing to hear from those of you who try out the 2488. Especially, if anyone records acoustic drums with it, since that's my primary goal.
My...
So, I had just about made the decision to buy the Yamaha AW16G and then Tascam released the 2488. They both fall in my price range and have the 8 simultaneous recording tracks that I need. Owners of the Yamaha certainly rave about it, but now I'm swaying towards the 2488 because it records at 24...
thanks for the feedback everybody
I appreciate the advice. I am still trying to find a simple way to make the volumes the same between different tracks on a CD.
I compile lots of different demos of various songs, and small compilations of my work. It would be preferable if there wasn't too much...
Pearl all the way
Depending on your budget, I highly suggest the Pearl Forum .
If you can afford the $600, go for it! It is the best entry level kit your money can buy. You can definitely get cheaper beginner kits , but you can't get a better value.
Check it out...
Hey Shoe-
I think you should be able to eek out at least two simultaneous mics with most soundcards, if you use a mixer and pan one mic left and one mic right and then assign each to a separate track within your recording program.
Someone can correct me if I'm telling you wrong, but I think...
try this
Assuming a basic drum set-up: try placing the mic about four feet high, behind the right shoulder of the drummer, pointed over towards the snare. That's usually a pretty good spot when you only have one mic to work with. It picks things up from the drummers' point of view and you can...
well done
I agree that the vocals need to be louder. I'm sure someone with greater expertise can suggest technically how to achieve that, perhaps by making a bit more space in the mix for them, but also maybe just turning them up. Maybe the "snare" sound fights with the vocals a bit for...
How about a stand alone CD Burner?
I have a stand alone CD player/CD burner (JVC). It is considered a stereo component, and therefore requires "audio" CDR's for recording.
It has a mic input jack that will allow for recording directly to CD and also has a CD/mic mix feature that will let you...
OK, so technically I'm not a newbie anymore, but I still have newbie questions. So here goes...
What software do you use/suggest to bring the levels of songs on a mixed CD to equal volume levels?
Also, what is the best/easiest method for raising the volume on individual songs? (other than...
best way to pump up the volume?
Can anyone share with me the best procedure for making songs louder once they are mixed? Because I am new to digital recording, I tend to air on the conservative side with tracking volume and mix volumes. But I get a pretty decent, clean sound. (maybe not pro...
