What ASIO driver are you using? Try googling ASIO4ALL and testing with that if it's not what you are using already. And maybe you have something else running that is eating up CPU Cycles. Perhaps an antivirus or something (any Norton/Symantec products maybe)?

Are you using a pre-set in the Gearbox software? I'm no expert, but i've been really impressed with the tones that that little thing can generate. I've mostly started out with the presets, and tweaked them a bit. You can hear some tones i got with it here...
