    Garbled sound...!!!!!!!! Asio is buggin!

What ASIO driver are you using? Try googling ASIO4ALL and testing with that if it's not what you are using already. And maybe you have something else running that is eating up CPU Cycles. Perhaps an antivirus or something (any Norton/Symantec products maybe)?

Oh yeah.. if you get this figured out, .. the big problem for me was latency. I had to throttle down the latency settings on my interface wwaaaaayyy down.

Playing electric drums through pc.... help!

It sounds like your problem is not with the track input, rather the track 'output'. There's no sound, but is there any signal? (i.e. .. if you activate the track to record, do you see the meter moving when you hit a pad or something)? If it is getting a signal.. set the midi 'output' to...

    soundproofing question

I really like this document for soundproofing. Helped me a lot with my basement 'studio' soundproofing attempts. http://www.acoustics101.com/common/acoustics101v3_0.pdf Obviously, it pushes the Auralex products, but there is lots of knowledge that you can use in it regardless of brands in it...

    where a track/inst. "sits"????

hmmm.. my newbiesh 2 cents... on giving dimension to mixes. Probably stuff you've already considered, but i'll throw em out and let smarter/more experienced people expand on them. relative levels of tracks... well obviously. Panning .. move things around in space. EQ'ing.. make sure...

Monitor placement, procedures for small room

Thanks CIRO. I've read that ideally, you would have at least 3' from your monitor and the walls (not possible for me). If not possible, put the monitors directly against the wall (not really possible either). When i listen now, sometimes i think i hear the low end doing funny things... and i...

Monitor placement, procedures for small room

So I've got my little room sorta set up... and my monitors (M-audio BX5a - they have a bass port in the back) are on monitor stands.. but they are about a foot from the wall. I know that this is a no-no (can mess up bass response), but if you look at the attached diagram, you'll see i don't...

Getting a good guitar recording through Line 6 Guitarport?

Are you using a pre-set in the Gearbox software? I'm no expert, but i've been really impressed with the tones that that little thing can generate. I've mostly started out with the presets, and tweaked them a bit. You can hear some tones i got with it here...

I Just Think a Les Paul BASS Is Goofy

hmm.. interesting thought. I'm not going to disagree with it, but what I'm wondering is if it because we are conditioned to see a bass guitar as the standard Fender Precision and/or Jazz bass form. (They were after all, the first bass to have frets and not be 'upright') Maybe we've been...

    Jazzy Leonard Cohen cover

Sounds nice! I'm no pro... nor am i a drummer, and all i really have to offer is that i'd agree with BentRabbit .... it'd be nice to hear the brushes/snare a bit more in the mix.

please help newbee... first computer studio

Sweetwaters.com has some nice package deals in their catalogue. If not to buy the package, to give you an idea of what they might consider a 'starter package'. I'd go request a catalogue from their web site. The catalogue is to me what the "Sears Wishbook" used to be at Christmas time. (oh...

Can I record Audio and picture files on the same CD?

yes, there are many, many ways to do this. All data on a computer (pictures, music, word files, spreadsheets, movies, etc..) are just that.. data. It can all be put onto a CD. You just need to place the music and picture files onto the CD. Your problem is going to be how you want to present...

    cubase not picking up mixer

I'm guessing...(it looks like that mixer has no USB connection) but what you really mean is that cubase is not picking up the sound from your soundcard. I'm assuming you have your mixer running into the 'line-in' of your soundcard? Hit F5 in Cubase. Your Soundcard should be listed as 'In...

    Feedback please :)

wow.. if that's your first at bat, that's pretty good. (Take this coming from someone who probably isn't at your level.. lol) I'd have to agree on the levels though.. it almost sounds like it's clipping on the chorus/loud parts. I would guess (correct me if you'd like) that you were trying to...

A few Questions for the experienced.

Hey that's cool that you're getting set up to record. I gotta say though, i'd recommend buying or borrowing some books. You've asked what you think are simple questions... but the more you learn.. .the more complex you'll understand them to be...
