Recordings are too quiet - vf160ex

I use wavlab for my wav editor but there is a free one called Audacity which does the job fine as well. I dont have a link handy, but we used it two years ago under Linux when we ran a Internet radio station to add commercials to the live shows we used to run. (On the repeats so they could run...

Recordings are too quiet - vf160ex

Move the finial wav to a computer and normilize it? Or send to a mastering house? Hoping someone has better ideas for you.

    MR-8 pedal, stop-start recording possible?

I honestly dont think the pedal brand matters. I only got the Fostex one because it was thrown in with the MR8 as a special. The plug looks like every other one I've seen... Give it a shot and see what it does, you dont need to configure anything. Arm a track start playing it and stomp to...

    MR-8 pedal, stop-start recording possible?

The only thing to keep in mind you need to stop the mr8 after you've punched out before it will let you punch back in. But this is a good thing so you can listen back and make sure it sounds good.

    MR-8 pedal, stop-start recording possible?

I looove the pedal! Since I've started recording to the computer I was going to sell the MR8, but it's just too darn handy when you have lots of overdubs. I guess I'm just more used to stomping on something real quick.

    my mr-8 is spazing

DrummerDude: Check the version number of the operating system when it boots, and see if there is a newer version on the fostex website. If there is try re-flashing the operating system. Heck if there isn't see if it will let you re-flash anyway.

    Punch in and out.

Thanks for the tips. I /think/ I saved but I wouldn't want to say 100% now that you've asked. I will just import and align it today. crankz: I'm going to try your method next time, just as soon as I'm finished reading more of the ntrack manual for group channels. :)

    Punch in and out.

Got my new computer home yesterday and everything is setup. This is the first time I'm recording from my Delta66 instead of the MR8. I used the punchin/out feature to fix a flat note on a vocal track and everything worked correctly, mixed the song down etc. 6 hours later I came back down...

    Apply Track Effects

Of course. That make sense. I will try that tonight. Thanks.

    Apply Track Effects

I've been over the manual and played with this feature for hours and I think I just dont understand what I'm doing. Once i get the mix the way I want it I want to apply some EQ and Reverb effects permantly to a track to free up some CPU power. However whenever I do this it seems to mess with...

    What kind of monitors?

I use Fostex PM 05's... They were fairly inexpensive and sound great to my ears. http://www.fostex.com/index.php?file=products/speakers/pm05

Off topic, but wish me luck!

Good luck CD! I know the feeling though, for years I held on to my band and when we finialy broke up I decided to just stay in the studio and record. A friend of mine called and told me their bass player left them with no notice so I showed up to play a gig with them... Now I'm getting paid...

    drums in a townhouse?

psmurf: I only have very basic sound proofing around the furnace room to block all those noises. But nothing in the "big" part of the room where the band plays.

    drums in a townhouse?

My condo townhouse is fairly new which means it's made like garbage and the best solution I came up with was this. Before I bought I talked to both neighbours and informed them I'm in a band and we are loud. We stop playing by 9:30 at night and everyone is happy. The neighbours closest to the...

    A Bluegrass Song- Kentucky Flower

Sounds really good to me. I'm still getting used to my new monitors but the bass sounds nice and thumping to me... Enjoyed the song, she's got a great voice for that music, brought me back to my youth when my dad blasted bluegrass albums all weekend long at the cottage. :)

    New tune for Review....

    mr 8 driver

I had a lot of problems getting the MR8 to "connect" to my computer when it was running XP. I just got fed up and used my Windows 2k pro cd that came with my last computer. but it could just be I'm more used to Win2k and didn't want to mess with XP.

    Is the MR-8 worth buying?

I've only had my MR8 for a few months but it's been used 4 hours a evening pretty much every weeknight since I got it, and a lot longer on weekends. (My band is recording everything we've ever written in an attempt to generate more interest in playing again. )

What do you use for Monitoring?

Dump tracks from the MR-8 to the PC and use my Fostex PM 0.5 monitors. Still using a Soundblaster live for a sound card. (Just got the speakers 2 days ago so I'm still getting used to them!)
