thanks so much spantini! it's great to get some feedback on this project. every song kind of leads into the next, with that same level of production. i mixed this as an 'album', like old school song programming. hopefully, folks will get to experience it the way i intended, it really works well.

It's called "The Time is Magic" a full length album, old school style, 10 songs are ordered to work as a continuous listen. i thought i'd introduce some of the songs on it, starting with this one: "High Time" it's an acoustic number, has a cool feel to it. hope you dig it!

a good transient designer will work for this.

well, i built the song around the sound of #1 kit, so maybe you're right, maybe i need to look for more 70's style dry-dead kits that have more impact than the current #1 kit....

yea, i like #2. had to do #1 to get to #2. LOL, that sounds phucked up. the snappy i can probably bring more of that out with some envelope controls and eq. maybe a transient plug. THE small tweaks in the kit mix will come once i commit to a single kit... but yea, i like #2 as well.

thanks 58 you know, i've always been curious about that kit. maybe a future purchase...? i can experiment quite a bit with the cymbals, maybe change a few out. kit on my system is loud and up front. appreciate the suggestions!

ok.... about a dozen other folk have responded as well, other web pages, PM's, most seem to like the V2 over the V1, but no one else has said anything about spitting or blankets. interesting.

im' trying to decide which drum kit between two i've built, work best for this song. i posted the 1st version of the song already, but now i want to try at least one different kit that i've been working on. a more rock sounding kit. both are from the toontracks superior drummer 'rooms of hansa'...

thanks again japov... yea, bringing them up in certain places, and muting them in others, when i record, i'm never quite sure what i need in the mix, so i just sing thru the entire song, at least 3 part harmonies, usually, because it's easy for me to do them, i've sung for so long, in ensembles...

Hey bulls, yea, there's more going on here, with acoustics and electric rhythms. But I've tried to find a good balance, I don't hear it as congested, just thick. Latest mix is eqd a bit different now, maybe that fixed it?
