I do my audio work on a DIY PC and I have no problems at all. I build a new comp ever 2 years or so. Building your own PC makes so much sense. I would recommend a clean partition and install for your music stuff. Make a music PC and a general use PC partition. If you're really hardcore make...
I gave you two ways to record and without knowing which one it is you're talking about it's hard to tell you what's wrong.
But here it goes:
If you used File -> Export Audio/Video in Arrangement View make sure that the bars you are actually exporting have data in them. It will...
I have in the past used pirated software. I have never been worried that someone is going to kick in my door because of it. But I avoid it now because it's more hassle than it's worth. Here are a few reasons why:
1. There are very often stability issues with pirated software: it is...
I like it. I noticed that your location says Glasgow, Scotland but I was going to say that this song has a Canadian sound to it (whatever that is ;) )
Thanks for posting.
There are several ways to record your set to a single track. Your manual is a good place to start. Look under Export. First of you need to know whether you are working in Arrangement View or Session View?
If you're in Arrangement View it's as simple as File -> Export Audio/Video command...
I don't get it. I thought the first forum post was great. Not knowing the key you're playing in is still wrong. I don't care what genre of electronic music you're in.
Nowadays there are plenty of USB -> MIDI devices out there. If you're going to get a keyboard you might consider the M-Audio Axiom 25. Here's a link on Ebay Axiom 25 for $150. The reason that I'd suggest it is because it has 8 knobs, 8 pads, transit controls, pitch & mod wheels, big octave...
I'm not sure whether or not you've heard of the band The Knife or not. The Knife Live in 2006 I've read that they use the BOSS VT-1.
There is one on Ebay for about $200. Ebay Link (2009/09/09)
It might only be a one octave shift in either direction, but I'm not sure.
You won't regret letting go of your on-board soundcard. I would like to second what Kingofpain678 said:
E-MU makes some great products. Just a heads up before you go to purchase anything. They now have PCI Express versions of their 0404, 1212M, and 1616M.
Link here.
I am currently a 0404...
I'd like to second that. This sounds great. I can't offer any real advise, but as I was listening I had one thought. I liked the bass line, but as the song progressed I got used to it and kind of tuned it out. A brief A cappella part or perhaps just vocals and drums might help keep things...
I agree. He seemed like a bit of a douche and the whole show seemed like a shameless plug for Moog. It felt completely contrived. I wonder who will be playing what Moog instrument in the next show if they ever make it past the pilot.
A friend of mine forwarded me this link today:

This seems to be hot off the press because it hasn't even been added to E-MU Systems news section yet.
Here is a quick summary of the OP.
Basically it says that the 0404, 1212, and 1616m are now going to come in PCIe. They are...
I have a E-MU 0404 and I have been planning the upgrade to the 1616. In January they announced a PCI Express versions of there 1616M and that's what I'm planning on getting (Link to article.) It was supposed to be out this Spring, but I still haven't seen anything. Here is another great...
I suck because I'm not a guitarist. It seems like every book I pick up seem to be about learning the pentatonic minor/major scale. All I want to do is play good rhythm guitar -- just a little something to fill out the mix and compliment my synthesizers and drums (and not interfere with the...
I think that my microphone is better than my preamp. I have a Behringer MINIMIC MIC800 Ultra-Compact Microphone Modeling Preamp and a Rode NT2A. I'm considering an upgrade. :)
