EQing a shure sm57 for male vocal recording/mixing (baritone)

word. word. Its a live recording so I'd rather have vocals with a boxy tone than to fake it. They don't sound awful, but I definitely like the tone better through a large condenser. Its all good tho. Cutting the mids slightly definitely helps, and Ill try out an exciter or something to see if...

EQing a shure sm57 for male vocal recording/mixing (baritone)

Hey guys! Is there a way to give a more "condensor" EQ or feel to the shure 58? Any tips for EQing a 58 for recording usage? Most of the tips ive found online are about EQing for live usage. Anything to stop the "boxiness" of the sound. Or compression settings?

Proper setup of monitors with audio unit

Hey guys. I have a couple of seriously noob, slightly ocd questions about properly setting up monitors and connecting them to an audio interface. I am going from a firepod into two yamaha hs50s using a TRS to XLR Male cable. I am going from the Main CR Output jacks, which gives me a control...

    Gear For Next recording project

thanks! Hey, thanks for the advice! After writing this all out and seeing what you guys have said, I think that we are going to get two days for tracking drums/bass in a studio, since its easier to get the band to split that cost, and then sell the blue tube and get the focusrite preamp and...

    Small Room Treatment

Hey. I recently moved into a two bedroom and I'd like to treat my studio room/mixing room a little bit. Is this a decent placement for 10 24x36x2 mineral wool panels? Thanks!

    oktava mk 319 problem

Hi! I let my friend borrow my oktava mk 319 and I just got it back. I noticed after I got it back that the capsule is bent about 45 degrees from the front. Is this normal? I thought that it was supposed to be exactly perpendicular. I don't even know how they could have bent the inside...

woah. Wow. That AKG is really really a lot better than the Samson I was messing around with. Thanks for the advice. (Unfortunately, I now have an ebay gear addiction.)

    Recommendations for next microphone.

thanks! Thanks for the advice, I had not heard of either of these mics. I ordered the AKG used based on its steller reviews, it's reputation for having diverse uses, and its reliability. The octava probably has the vocal quality I want, but I am a little afraid of it because of the quality...
