Progress on the Stephen Paul mic!

If it comes from Stephen you can bet it's not going to be be building any bridges. It will be in a class by itself. Taylor

    A Community Project

This seems like a particularly nasty, and asinine thing to say. If the people spending the money think a Triton is more beneficial than student guitars and an upright piano who are you to question their motives? $40,000 is a lot of money to spend, and they can do a lot with it. The gent is here...

Progress on the Stephen Paul mic!

Cool, That's what I like hearing. So you're the one who's gotten a peak. So it's something that will have to be clandestine until it hits the street? If it's something that is Godzilla like, I hope it's something he can get a patent on and subsequently thumb his nose at all the...

Progress on the Stephen Paul mic!

Why not? We were given foreknowledge of the current mic. You didn't think I was suggesting that Alan post Stephen's actual blue prints did you? Taylor

You could get an Akai DPS24 for $3,500 and have everything you need in an all-in-one. Plus, it is an awesome sounding unit, with 100 mm touch sensitive faders. The onboard preamps sound great. I like the idea of the Studio Projects mics, maybe a set of Marshall 603s's to go with them. Did I...

    Presonus MP20 Class-A discreet mic pre F/A

My bet is you've listened to neither a RNP nor a Presonus MP20. But thanks for your valuable input anyway. The MP20 is what it is. It has gotten the nod from a lot of pro engineers. Others weren't as impressed with it as others. More information and specs, along with a review can be found...

    mogami microphones?

I'll second that one for "mic bargain of the year", but I want to make a nomination for guitar bargain of the year. I have a friend that just picked up a Martin D-45 at a garage sale for $100. It's not in perfect shape, but it appraised for $7,000. Why I can't I be the lucky slug who comes...

    15 year old engineer songs

I have no problem whatsoever with believing you are 15 years old. In my experience, young people excel at whatever they put their attention to. Consider yourself lucky, in that you know what you want to do. Most people figure out what life course they would like to pursue when they are about...

Best Mic for Home Recording, 120cdn or less.

I don't know anything about the ATM-41A but let me offer you a little bit of advice. 1) Take anything a sales weasel tells you with a grain of salt. Not that they can't be helpful, they can. But for the most part, they just want to sell you something that has a nice profit margin for them. 2)...

    mic preamps for distortion?

Good suggestion Chess, but if you'll notice his original post, he was asking how to get this sound for "live" work. Taylor

Just bought 3 SM 57's . Something is very wrong. Please help!

Harvey, How do you get to the capsule in the 57? I have one that's not working. I thought the screen might pop off, but I pulled on it a little bit and I was afraid I would break it. I unscrewed that part that unscrews, and the two wires there were intact. Taylor

One more thing... When you get your new personna, I wouldn't mention my 1680 and my sm57 drum mic kit for a while. LOL. Wanker.

Absolutely not, Do not listen to this foolish advice Figgie Newton. You should get rid of the clips and immediately hire a team of 4 drunk monkeys to hold the mics in place.

He finally got serious, learned it all on his own, with no schooling whatsoever, and all without ever even having put his hands on an SM57. Sorry if this point was addressed already. I don't have time to read the whole thread, I just wanted to point out, that this statement had me rolling in...
